Kos should be back for the spuds game. Sagna - Kos - TV5 - Gibbs is our best back 4 on paper but how long will they all stay fit.

Arsenal have been rife with injury problems for years. Surely it can't just be down to luck? Lots of speculation that it's down to the way they train/diets etc that I've heard various times. I wonder what it is.

Just looking at their players it kinda looks like they don't do the same amount of strenght training as other teams ;)

I would give that the time if day if the injuries were not so random. Also If they could be avoided they would. Arsenal dropped a small fortune on the Medical Centre at the new training complex and they spend a long time looking into what it could be. But just about every club in the league has adopted the same Diet Systems that Arsenal have.

If players were being rushed back and getting injured again but i don't see how Kos turning his knee can be blamed on our training.

Well I'm not saying every injury, clearly. Quit being so overly defensive of your club. I'm positing the possibility, not accusing Arsenal of crippling their own players.

I did not mean it that way and i am not being defensive so calm down. My club looked into if it was us causing the problems but can you think of any injuries where that could be true? Jack re hurting his foot could maybe come down on us and the way he was training. But in recent memory who else can? Some of out bigger injures RVP's and TV5 missing a season were both International duty injuries.

I really don't know, I don't have a vested interest in Arsenal's injury problems so I can't say I have an in-depth knowledge of them. On the podcasts/sites I read etc though I've often seen people with a lot more knowledge than you or I reference Arsenal's training methods etc, as well as Wenger's propensity to rush players back after injury, as part of the problem. As I said, just putting it forward as a discussion point. It wasn't intended as a dig at the club.

The point is made time and time again but look at the cause of the injuries to our defensive players this year. They're almost all freak impact injuries or players turning their knee or ankle. They're not things that can be accounted for by a medical team. e.g. Sagna's leg break, Mertesacker's ankle injury, Kos turning his knee, Gibbs getting a hernia etc.

It's more of a valid point towards the attacking and midfield players, but it has no basis in reality on our defensive injuries this season.

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/medical-centre-opens-at-training-ground I am fairly sure this is the video where the club Doctor discusses that. And yes Wenger has been guilty of that numerous times. And i did not take it as a dig. Most of our problems this year have not been players getting re injured when making a comeback. Jack and Diaby are exceptions. I think Gibbs latest lay off was a unrelated injury. So I am just discussing how with this years injuries I do not see a pattern that supports anything other than bad luck.

I always thought it had something to do with giving a lot of playing time to younger, less developed players, you can argue it helps their game develop but often fucks them up physically for the rest of their career

Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Andre Santos are all young and underdeveloped, or are you talking out of your arse? :D

I think Arsenal are associated with injuries because its a small squad and because its one of wengers favourite excuses and he tops the league for whining tbh.

It's not a small squad though, we have 5 DCs and 4 full backs - that's standard. We've just had injuries to more than 4 at a time, which is mental.

Compared to Man City and some of the other top premiership teams you have a small squad - you also have a lack of talent in your backup players so losing one of your decent ones hurts more.

Man City's squad is so stupidly huge some of their big names didn't make it into their 25.

Their squad is bloated due to signing crap players on high wages. They've been trying to reduce the number of players in their squad because it's too many.

Using that as a comparison for us to say we have a small squad is ludicrous.

arsenal have about the same depth as liverpool tbh, good starting 11 4-5 decentish back up fringe players, then a laod of youngsters or shitters filling the gaps

Heh - actually Liverpool have 4 less players in their squad than Arsenal. They only have 1 player less than man city - I guess when we think of small squads we mean lack of quality overall squad.
