Sad to hear it sounds like a racist insult - I'd read the statement from the club and a few other articles - and the only time they'd mentioned racism was by inference with the suarez stuff. I'd expect the other members of the away supporters to rat him out double-quick. They're not morons or racist (I've never heard a single racist chant in all my years of attending matches) and they also understand how that'd look for the club...

Y'see - I don't think Suarez is racist, or what he said was racist. Intent matters.

In Thailand I managed to offend someone (to the point that he came and tried to give me a talking to - in Thai (which is well out of character for them)) because I was sat with the soles of my feet showing and pointed vaguely in his direction.

Horribly offended. 'cause I was feet up - in Thailand the feet are considered the filthiest part of the human body. You shouldn't point at stuff with your feet either.


Suarez has a black grandad (so he's at least 1/4 black himself) and his wife calls him negro. Both Patrice Evra and the FA openly admit that Suarez isn't racist.

No wonder that the partisan Liverpool fans are sticking up for someone who's been hard done by because our country's culture demonises words, regardless of meaning or intent.

The lad needed a stern talking to and advice on making a public apology, that's all - in the same way that I apologised for showing my feet..
