From beeb rumor mill
Sir Alex Ferguson is considering one of the most unexpected transfer moves of his 24-year tenure as Manchester United manager - a bid for Joey Barton.

would be interesting to see if Ferguson sort him out though would be a bit of a gamble

pretty unlikely, but then i laughed at the idea of Michael Owen ever going to Newcastle (or Man Utd), so what do i know... :p

He is as good as Carrick, maybe a bit better.

You cannot be serious. Carrick has been proven at the top level for over 3 years. Barton is good but, did you see his debut for England? He is not good enough for a team like United.

You judge a player on one game?

Joey Barton is a pretty good player, he will move to a top 4/5 team within a year.

If we can't get who we want he will go with Cleverly and Jones rotating in I reckon. Could be dodgy but I don't think United don't want to spend £35 million in fees and then £200,000 a week on wages, to get who they really want that is the price. Personally I think Nasri is a good compromise, he has plenty of good years in him so we can always regain much of the fee.

It is a shame for football to be honest, if he applied himself properly he could be a bit special, problem is the bloke has a chip on his shoulder the size of Africa.

He needs to loose some of the attitude, not all of it though, because it makes him the player he is. Mancini is a too strict to coach him though, they are always going to clash.
