I watched quite a bit of the Womens world cup and the quality at times is shocking.

Wambach (the scorer in that video) and Marta in Brazil are the only people in the sport that can hit the ball correctly with any regularity

I would take journalism crap with a pinch of salt There has already been tons of reports of "Liverpool are selling Meireles, he is not gonna follow the team to China". And when pictures of Meireles on the plan to china shows up the change their tune "Dalglish doesn't rate him".

Altho I would not be surprised if he is sold, makes sense money wise to sell him at 28. And the new owners will probably want to maximize money on him.

I would miss him greatly tho, and I agree he is better than Adam and Henderson!

i spose the point is that atm our squad isnt good enough and by the time they rebuild and it is good enought meireles will probly be early thirties and not part of it anyway, so may aswell make a profit and rebuild.

personaly tho i think he could be the difference between say 6th and 4th and the money from euro football would be more than any profit we made

I'd say most players value start declining after 28~, so it makes sense in that way.
