Funny but i am pretty sure we finished in 3rd place in 2005 and i am pretty sure we hammered Chelsea and Juve on the way to the final of the CL. Oh and just incase you forgot Chelsea won the PL that year and considering we finished 1 point behind ManU in the league i am wondering what you consider a good season.

But then people have such short memories and i shouldnt be surprised to hear comments from a person that thinks RM are in the PL.

For kietan.

Sorry but the team we currently have is not stronger that anything we had 2 years ago. We have lost key players and the replacements brought in have not been anywhere near as good.

To lose players like Alonso and Mascherano were a disaster and only serve to highlight just how shit at man management Rafa really was. I wont jump on the bandwagon and bash him suffice it to say so long and best of luck.

Seems we are in for a long long season. If we cannot beat teams like Wigan, even on a bad day we are a looOooong way from were we need to be and Roy will ahve his work cut out to keep his job me thinks past the end of this season.

Tough period over, we got an unexpected 3 points out of it, Now it's win or bust vs Bolton. Lose or Draw and we are gone.

La Liga yet again prove that although they may have better football than the Barclays Premier league their marketers are no better than the Blue Square Premier League. The first Classico of the year will be played on Monday November 29th at 9pm Spanish Time (8PM GMT)! That's going to really sell your league abroad!

Actually it's mildly more interesting than the Scottish league now thanks to Jose being able to wind up those petulant catalans on a weekly basis :D

How much of a god is ian holloway. I met him on saturday cos I did a turamber and went to the game. Hospitality jobby. Prawn sandwhich brigade and all that. Had a yarn with all the everton players, but didnt know any blackpool players so didnt bother talking to them, except for Holloway, i recognised his mug off the telly. I tell ya, hes just as nuts in the flesh as he is on telly. Within 2 minutes he was ranting at me about something that I was too drunk to care about lol Now he says hes gonna quit if his team get fined. Nooooooo, we need nutjobs like him in the game.

While i do in fairness agree with Holloway about him making choices about what team he should put out, i think i'm seeing a trend this season in regards to throwing out ultimatums from managers.

A few weeks ago Redknapp got away with criticising a referee (Albeit, rightfully) and threatened that if he got fined, he would stop doing interviews. Now just 2-3 weeks later another threat has come forward from Holloway.

If the managers keep "getting away" with this, how long before the FA finally calls someones bluff on the matter - Someone will be left with egg on their face...

No, it proves that the media magnate, owner of the TV rights aka Jaume Roures is a known Barca fan (and catalonian btw) and that he is more concerned about how many days of rest can have the players of his beloved team after their game vs Panathinaikos. Noooo, it couldnt be that the clasico would be played on Saturday evening cuz "how can RM enjoy one more day of rest than barcelona???" (RM plays Ajax on tuesday and Barca Panathinaikos on wednesday)....
Then, why not play it on Sunday evening? will you ask. Well, the "federal state" elections of Catalonia are that same sunday, and c'mon "How could posibly the Clasico result shadow the election result of my birthplace"??

Signed "A pissed off RM fan" :twak::twak::twak:

Did you cry this much when we only had 2 days to recover after a 50 mile coach trip from Milan, to play Sevilla when the gap was only 1 point with 2 games to go?

Thought not.

Crying? Whos crying? After all RM still will have 1 more day of rest no matter what day the game takes place...

Get your facts right: im whining for the same reason Calo stated. A Clasico on a Monday evening, with ppl coming back homes from work, a game that its seen all over the world and already ppl from other countries (seee Calo statement above) is already flipping out with that decision, that is no good either for RM, Barca, the match and the whole Liga tournament.

Way to go! Way to go!

PS: i rly expected more from you than a petty comeback thinking I was crying at barca.

Well I guess. Personally I don't understand the attraction of supporting a foreign team.

Could be because you already live in the country with the best football.

If you lived in China, were mad about football, who'dya follow? :)

Edit: Gah, click on a link you've not used in ages, get taken to a random place in the forum you think is actually "current", post and then realise you're wayyyy off topic :(

Anyway - I see Barton's not changed much :)

You did cry, you spat your dummy out, pointing the finger at Jaume Roures like its some kind of conspiracy. There is a valid reason why it cant be played on Sunday, because there will be over 100,000 people working on the elections and its not fair on them. if anything blame La Liga for scehduling el classico on the weekend of the elections. Barcelona wont get back from Greece until thursday, this gives them not even 2 days to prepare. Its bullshit. if it was anyone other than barcelona involved it would be "gg we agree, lets move the game".

Its La Ligas fault for amateurish planning, something the premierleague would never do except for ferguson getting a sunday game switched to monday once after his players flew back on a thursday.

But dont let the facts get in the way of a cheap pop at Jaume Roures and by proxy, Barcelona

My team beat x team, so they must be better than them. yawn.

He didn't say Madrid were in the PL, you orignally said that Liverpool were the kings of Europe. Marc corrected you, as Madrid have more titles.

This is all besides the point though, stop living off past glories. Your team is shit NOW.

Im not gonna argue with you about something that holds no discussion. The game could have perfectly been played on Sunday evening or Saturday evening. Period.

And if you think I would ever give a damn about what Barca does you couldnt be more wrong. Do you rly think I care about how many days of rest Barca has? If it were for me they could have a whole month if they pleased. Apparently, someone above doesnt seem to think the same way.

Me? I will highlight it in bold:
Im pissed cuz I wont probably be able to see the first half (last minutes of the first half if im lucky with traffic). And like me, thousands of madrid / barca fans.

Roures on the other hand....well dont get me started.
Anyways, dont let your vast knowledge of the spanish sports tv rights get in the way of defending your supported team.

I think i was pretty clear what i said and even marc picked up on it, pretty much as soon as he posted his Barcelona comparison.

I think the whole world over knows RM have the most wins in CL but i was refering to teams in England.

A little bit of banter does nobody any harm and dont be so sure that you will not be faced with the same problem once SAF retires

*****EDIT*****

The post you are quoting btw was a response to a comment that we were a shit team the season we won the CL (2005) which couldn't be further from the truth, as i pointed out.

You weren't a brilliant team though - not a team good enough to win the champions league in any normal season. It was a great victory true, but it was Milan's failing more than your ability that swung that match.

There is a reason so many people consider that a fluke champs league win....

Feel sorry for Holloway, The FA need to keep there noses out. He has a squad and he went to get a result at Villa, they were very unlucky to not come away with something.

It's nothing like Wolves last season either, Big Mick pretty much told everyone he was throwing the game before hand as it wasn't very important.

The thing is - I don't believe the FA or league said anything, it's a press created story. They intimated to Holloway that he could be fined to get a reaction.

they were shit that season, they failed to actually qualify for champs league. They only got in because they QQ'd to UEFA that they wouldn't be able to defend their crown. You came fifth, behind Everton for gods sake, how is that a good season in the league? xD

Ah thought I heard sky saying the FA were looking into it and had sent a letter to Blackpool asking them to explain themselves. Fooking Sky!!!

I suppose but Hodgson has done an ok job so far and sacking him and getting someone new in is NOT the solution, that would just cause further turmoil..

Lets see what he can do with 40-50m this January/Summer :flame:

Who, of any calibre, would choose Liverpool over United, Chelsea, Arsenal or City?

No disrespect meant, genuine question.
