Yeah I think they are trying to manage the situation and stop a panic. Looking at his swollen ankle/foot I would be suprised if he is back that quickly. Tendon and ligament damage can take longer to fully repair than bone.

These kind of tackles are common when you are by far, the best player on the planet. Messi had started the season on fire including 2 goals midweek, that if Wayne Rooney had scored would have been nominated by the Sun as the goals of the century. I cant see him being back in 3 weeks, but hes not a fancy dan premier league player who has 2 weeks off when they get a bruise so there is always hope. The Ballon D'or is based on last season and summer internationals, at least its supposed to be. I think it will be between Drogba and Rooney for the premierships highest place

As it is, none of the players you put forward had good summers. Messi, Drorgba and Rooney all had great seasons last year though, as did Cristiano.

But Messi at least had a better world cup than the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney. He did everything but score. I still think he will win the Ballon D'or by a landlside like he did last season, but thats not as impressive as last season because ROnaldo had a stormer too yet was still miles behind Messi. Well when Rafa Benitez was at Liverpool for me it seemed a close run thing between him and Wenger as number 1 whiner with Ferggie following up behind but without question with Benitez gone Wenger has the position all to himself.
