Do Villa NEED to sell those players though?

Young will go for definite, and after 3-4 years of being our standout player he deserves it. Downing should get a grip. We signed him when he was injured, paid him for 1/2 a season before he could even kick a ball.

I doubt he will go this Summer but he's pissed off a lot of fans with his comments.

We have a ready-made replacement winger in Marc Albrighton, I wouldn't be sad to see us move to a one winger system next season, playing two has made us quite predictable in our play.

Would probably be better off letting Downing go anyway, since he's absolutely shit! It's a shame Villa are left in this position after things were looking so positive with O'Neill a couple of seasons back.

I really hope Bent stays at Villa and they build a solid side around him. Would be nice to see Agbonlahor recapture his form too.

well kuyt maxi and jovanovic are fowards but not strikers, they mainly play midfield or link up

our only out and out strikers are carrol ngog and suarez

Sigh, if I must.

1. He only JUST moved in January.
2. He would command a £30m+ fee.
3. He can't play up front with anyone, he's a lone striker. So we're going to play 1 striker, and it be Bent ahead of van Persie? No, we'll sign a striker that can actually play in a twosome and give us an option other than 1 up top. There are few strikers who can outdo van Persie, and Bent isn't one of them.

I like the way everyone has forgotten how good Chamakh was in the first half of the season when RvP wasn't around... he burnt out around December because he had to play every game for the full 90 as Bendy was also injured... that's why his second half of the season was rubbish. At the end of the season, in the final couple of games, after his rest period he looked a lot sharper again.

Yes, we will sign a striker and we need one, especially with Nik on the way out. But Bent is so very far away from what we need, or will do. Or can afford to do. We need to sign a few players, so spunking £30m+ on Bent would hamper all of our further strengthening.
