LOL, so Kolo Toure has effectively already served his ban. 6 month ban starting from the 2nd of March. He'll be back the 2nd of September. Good decision IMO, he did wrong, but not for any sporting gain.

Still baffles me that - if what he said is true - a professional athlete would feel the need to take diet pills. Mental.

Aye, I dont get why he would take diet pills. Especially without the teams medical teams advice.

Understandable if was ill and took medication without realising something in it like is often stated, but this I dont get

Wait, he's said what now? What a load of fuck nuggets, cancel the freaking election and clear house first. Then Blatter should stand down for being responsible for leading FIFA while it's been so obviously corrupt.

I read before that it has to be resolved before the election, after the election and it's over basically.

The comments from Blatter about that email just scream "i only care about me and my chronies, fuck football"

BBC Sport - Football - Kolo Toure handed six-month ban for failed drugs test

Ouch if it was a honest mistake which everyone seems to believe this is abit harsh.

Not harsh at all, did you read my post above? The ban includes the time he's already been suspended for. So the ban started the 2nd of March, it finishes the 2nd of September. So he'll only miss one month of next season. As for a mistake - he knew the rules and failed to properly check the tablets, silly, but they are the rules athletes have to love their lives by.

Remember that Rio was crucified for simply missing a test.

It isn't as if they've got much to remember/do thus it isn't really acceptable for such things to happen, thus you get fairly tough penalties.

FIFA - FIFA’s Bin Hammam Says Bribe Probe Should Be Extended to President Blatter

the knives are out now aren't they? Everyones getting in on the act (FINALLY).

We just need Beckenbauer to speak up about why he quit now.

The election needs to be cancelled, well really FIFA should be binned and starting again, but I cant see that happening unless pigs start flying :(

so does a ban kick in straight away or start of football season?

Wenger said he's always struggled with his weight.

It's still baffling though, diet pills aren't a particularly safe, healthy way to loose weight, if they even make you loose weight to begin with.
IIrc they are only banned cause they are/were used to mask the presence of real performance enhancing drugs.

Finally someone gets it. Oh and some diet pills speed up metabolic rate as well, that can also be considered performance enhancing.

from the start of their suspension i think, and it gets backdated .. so toure started his ban in March or whenever..

so for 2 months of the ban he wouldn't actually be playing football bar friendlys/ pre season? seems daft
