hehe "the organisation is not corrupt, just the people in it"

or as bertie ahern put it, "i never took bribes, money just appeared in my desk with small notes with suggestions on them..."

(not exactly what he said but that was my impression of his defence :p )

Jones has left us, hasn't had a sniff of first team action since November and looked like a player gone. Wish him all the best but wasn't ever going to get near the first XI again, will do a Championship team good.

Reo-Coker is shite, you don't want him. O'Hara is better than him FFS.

Carew's decent when he can be arsed. Problem is, he's arsed much less and less these days...

Jesper_Gronkjaer__560878t.jpg

This sunday will be an end of an era. Jesper Grønkjær has decided to end his career when his club FC København plays the final game of this season on sunday. He has decided, at the age of 33, that he his body can no longer cope with the pace of the game. He announced it yesterday, but it was done with a heavy heart.

He has played a great part in taking FC København to where the club is today. Without him the club would never have achieved reaching the final 16 in the Champions League this year, only to get eliminated by his old club Chelsea. As well as Copenhagen, Chelsea owes a lot to Jesper Grønkjær. Let me take you back to the days before Abromovich and endless amounts of money. Back to 2002, when Chelsea had players like Zola, Desailly, Gudjohnsen, an upcoming John Terry and of course Jesper Grønkjær, just to name a few.

It is the final game of the season. Chelsea and Liverpool are neck and neck on who is going to take 4th place and get a ticket to next seasons Champions League. The two clubs meet at Stamford Bridge. if you do not remember for yourself, here is what happened in that match:

Jesper Gronkjaer: The winger who scored Chelsea's £1bn goal - News & Comment, Football - The Independent

Jesper Grønkjær became match winner with an assist and the winning goal. And this is where Abramovich came into the picture. He saw that Chelsea had a huge potential with the Champions League ticket and decided to buy the club and invest an enormous amount of money in order to put the club where it is today. When Abramovich took over, Jesper Grønkjær was no longer needed in Chelsea and was sold to Birmingham.

After two hectic years and three clubs later, he then returned to Denmark to play for FC Købehavn, where he flourished. After five years at the club he has won the Danish Championship four times. He has played a great part in where Copenhagen is today. Without him it is doubtable that the club would ever have reached the final 16 in the Champions League this season or would have succeeded as much as it has in the domestic league over the past five years. But on sunday it all comes to an end. Jesper Grønkjær is playing the last match of his career at home in Copenhagen against his old club where it all started.

All that is left to say now is thank you. Thank you Jesper Grønkjær for everything you have given me and the club ever since you arrived. Words cannot do justice of how much you will be missed in the next season. You are irreplaceable and our team will be weakened without you. You are a man with so much heart and love for the game as well as the club.

I have no idea how to end this post, but one thing is for certain, that on sunday I will be there in the stands to give you a proper thank you and a goodbye

Aye, great player. Shame he's retiring at a relatively early age. I'm convinced he could play on longer, Denmark's league isn't the most physically demanding.

He has been plauged with injuries over the last couple of seasons, really badly two years ago when he had a staff infection in both of his legs. He stops on top because he doesn't feel like being destroyed when he ends his career

Brilliant post. Must spread rep.

That game brings back such great memories. Was sad to see Ranieri go back then, he was a top bloke. Really reminds me of how great our side was even back then. It was also entertaining to watch that dirty fucker Gerrard getting sent off again. :D

Hope Gronkjaer enjoys his retirement, he has been a fantastic player for both Copenhagen and Chelsea.

Tot el camp
és un clam som la gent blau-grana
tant se val d´on venim, si del sud o del nord,
ara estem d´acord,
estem d´acord una bandera ens agermana
blau-grana al vent,
un crit valent,
tenim un nom,
el sap tothom
Barça! Barça! Baaarça!

Jugadors
Seguidors
tots units fem força
són molts anys plens d´afanys,
són molts gols que hem cridat,
i s´ha demostrat, s´ha demostrat,
que mai ningú no ens podrà tórcer
Blau-grana al vent,
un crit valent,
tenim un nom,
el sap tothom:
Barça! Barça! Baaarça

Thanks for giving Keitan an excuse to harp on about Istanbul Everz

:(.

Tbh though.. it was that last decent European final.. every other one has been absolute gash since...well the last Barce/United wasn't to bad, but everything else was uggh. Maybe Shakhtar's UEFA Cup win could count as good though.

And also seeing as people have backed Wolves from both the United and Barca side.. an entertaining final should please all as it'd be unfair to choose one.. someone winning 5-4 :p.
