United were the best team this year. I dont really think that the standard has dropped hugely, our clubs have still done alright in Europe. I think that the league is a lot closer and there are a lot of good clubs. The big 4 is now more of a big 3 of United, Chelsea and Arsenal. However none of those teams would confidently predict a win at City, Spurs or Liverpool and would expect tough games at Everton, Bolton, Stoke and Sunderland (when they have some first team players fit).

Good to hear some noise at OT for once, usually a bit dead. Dont really know how Chelsea have managed to drag themselves to being this close, from the games I have watched they have been really lethargic, slow and ineffective.

Dont worry, Barcelona will shut Chodax up :D

Looking forward to testing that theory. :) Any final is special but a Champions League final against Barcelona is the stuff of dreams. Back in 1991 after the Cup Winners cup victory I never thought I would see us here where we are now, with everything we have achieved over those two decades. I am in dreamland at the moment, if we win the Champions League as well I might actually explode for real.

Sorry but I've never lacked objectivity, it is/has always been a strong point however I sometimes perhaps don't express it clearly enough at times for some people to actually understand.

It has always seemed some what ironic to me that the people who tend to most disparaging about the amount LP won are only happy to jump on the same train, those that talk about past glories are only likely to fail. It has always been a case that no one should really bang on about past glories it tends to be the here and now that matters or at least a short time frame based around the current generation.

Well that can't be aimed at me I guess, I have not been disparaging about what Liverpool have achieved, infact on numerous occasions I have pointed out that just to catch them up has been a monumental effort because they achieved so much.

As for people banging on about past glories, well I do get where you are coming from to a degree but when sides aren't doing too well of course the fans are going to point to their past and why it makes them a great club. It isn't always accurate or productive but it is very understandable. As for pointing out your record when you are winning, well that is football and every fan of every great club does it.

City will spend, that is a forgone conclusion imo, Chelsea may well spend too. Who spends best will dictate where the league goes in the next couple of seasons really, it is going to come down to quality but also squad strength more than ever.

If City had actually done really well over the last two seasons it would prove the theory that if you spend you buy the cup but in reality it continues to require someone to actually get the team working and not just a case of throwing money at it.

As I've said before regarding the CL:

I wouldn't care if they weren't cheating *****, I'd still support Man U :p

Yep there is spending and there is spending well, you had a good core at Chelsea and Jose added enough to it to make your one of the top 5 sides in Europe. City spent but didn't spend well, didn't make Europe the first season, didn't make CL the second and have scraped into the CL in the third season with a total spend well over £300 million and rising. They don't have the manager to get them where the spending should take them imo, he is good but not great.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti on Man United: "It is not a disappointment because when one team plays better than you, you have to accept it. Today they were better than us and in the season as well. Now they are comfortable to win the title and they deserve it."
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti: "In the first minute we lost the game. We started so bad, it was difficult after that to come back and win. The second half was better but in general United played better and deserved to win. We took a lot of time to clear our heads [after their first goal] because we didn't want to start the game by conceding a goal."
Sums up how i feel, congrats y'all

It is but the basic problem is one that everyone knows but not sure much is going to be done about it.

Zlatan has now achieved 8 league titles in 8 successive seasons with 5 different clubs. He is obviously the missing link Man City need.

Yup they really do ( even though the 8 in 8 hasn't been true for a few years ).
Would be even better if they also do a Juve next season , fail to win anything and then get relegated for their troubles.

I have the feeling Barca is gonna get robbed in the final.

Ah! sweet divine justice

15 mins in, pretty good, nothing we don't really know but presented in an interesting way.

Something like 14/20 clubs make a loss apparently. I didn't realise it was that bad in the prem. Thought it was more a lower league thing. Also apparently 90% or so of all spending is on wages... How long can the premiership last with such a high tax rate as we have in the UK? (45-50% is it?)

Lots of the Arsenal blogs seem to be calling for Wenger or at least the coaching stuff to be replaced. I still think Wenger built a team before that was big and physical which won the league. So as long as he is willing to do that again I think Wenger is the man for the job. But if he refuses to spend the money again and we just bring some more kids up after the club raising ticket prices there could be some trouble here.

Sounds mad but I have faith in your team, when it really matters that they fight they seem to get angry and steel themselves.

MM said it right.. if we had turned up in all the game as we have in the big games we would be in Europe.. it's insane

Our record in derby games this seasons is 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.

MM has that ability I think, he can gee up the players into something of a frenzy, was well described that yesterday our lot come out, angry faced and ready for a battle whilst the albion were smiling and giggling.

Said once and I'll say it again about Zlatan.. he will smash the shit teams up and do poor against the big sides, thats what makes him so useful.

You play us this weekend and i think that you will beat us , we have nothing left to play for , no fit strikers and ive got a feeling he is gonna play a few young lads from the reserves.

Gratz Mancs on number 19, been consistent throughout the season and despite this being probably the worst United side since I've been born, in spirit and effort it's up there with the best imo.

Can't help but admire Hernandez also, seems such a geniunely likeable character.

Still donning the fact we ruined your unbeaten run though ;).
