Err.. was Rafa in charge of Inter versus SChalke? No, he got the sack because of how awful he was long before.

Or he quit because he was promised spends, demanded them and was denied? ;)

United were fantastic tonight. Its easy to say "schalke never got out of first gear". Tough shit, it should have been at least 4 nil. Tell you what, if Barca and their manager "pep, I inherited a great team according to know nowt wolves and northampton fans, Guardiola" get past Real Madrid, I dont fancy our chances against a Man United team in that form.

Bitter are we Marc?

Pep is up there with Juande Ramos as it's the system at the club rather then the manager.

I would fancy Barca to win it to be honest.

Although, I would actually prefer a Madrid vs. United final. It would be interesting to see Mourinho back in his element in England, as well as seeing Ronaldo face his former team-mates with Sir Alex coming up against his alleged successor.

Sure, real bitter.

Next you will be telling me SAF was a shit manager because he stumbled upon a group of youngsters who were way ahead of their time.

Look at the team Chelsea has had for the past few years. On paper, as good as any, surely any random like, umm, say Mick McCarthy would be able to coach them to a league, cup and champions league treble.

But why let your bitterness get in the way of facts. If you really think Guardiola cant take any credit for the treble and the league we will win this year you are more clueless than I originally thought.

I dont know pal, United were scintilating tonight.

It would be interesting to see Ronaldo up against the team that made him the player that he is. Maybe a Real v Man United final is written in the stars? Jose seems to have the upperhand against us at the moment.

I don't know ... I still think Barca will have enough to make it through. Although Jose does seem to be working his magic. I have a lot of respect of Guardiola, and he has been doing really well, but I am afraid he has kind of fallen into Mourniho's trap with today's outburst ...

... although in the end of the day, the game should be decided on the pitch. Yes, Mourinho won the battle of tactics in the Copa del Ray, but I still think that game could have gone either way. And the CL is different, with the away goals rule and all that.

Barcelona were all over Real Madrid for most of that game, Madrid seemed a bit lucky to steal a goal tbh. Game at Nou Camp is big,5-0 must be in the minds.

Tell me then. What has made Pep a great manager? Other then having the balls to remove the bad eggs?

Remove your tinted glasses, even muppet mick could win with that Barcelona side. The huge credit should go to your fantastic youth system.

Juande Ramos is an absolute muppet of a manager which can all agree upon, yet because of the behind the scenes setup up at Sevilla he was able to win what he did. I feel that Pep would follow suit.

Did you actually watch the whole match? Madrid had by far the better of the clear cut chances barca were woeful in the first half, played well in the second and extra time was a split, but out and out chances madrid had more than smooth to justify the win.

Come on, they play the best football in the world, they might have a great first eleven but Guardiola is the one who got them playing their passing and pressing game. Rijkaard's squad was equally good but played no-where near as well imo.

It's always amusing when glory supporters accuse fans of other teams of having a lack of knowledge.

The 2nd leg of the tie plays in Barca's interest.

If Pep is smart, he will "hold his horses" and try to harvest a good result for the 2nd match in Barna, specially now that Iniesta is not playing due to injury.

Still, I prefer a Real - ManU final, for obvious reasons

This.

You have to be incredibly naive to honestly believe there isn't a lot of in-depth tactical thought, planning and implementation put into managing a side like Barcelona. No matter how good the players are, if you just send them out and say "do your thing" you will get destroyed by other well-prepared teams.

With that said there are different facets that all managers excell at. You have Mourinho for example who is a master of being outright meticulous and getting his players to do anything for him. Then you have other managers who are much more adept at winning tactical battles, and so on and so forth.

Guardiola has gotten the best out of what was already a fantastic team, you can cite what fantastic players he has at his disposal all you want but without motivation and some tactical nouce behind them they wouldn't be as dominant as they are.

Nowhere near as well due to the bad eggs that were causing the rest to falter, he did what everyone else was saying to do, getting rid of Ronaldinho, Deco and Eto'o (albeit at a later date). They play the football that was taught them from youth onwards, he got them playing the game that was taught to them, this is going in circles anyways. I'll have a good laugh when he goes onto flop at his next job.

seriously quit with the carrick loving, its getting creepy.

he wouldnt get into Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City or Tottenhams midfield, he's average at best when put under pressure, usually gives the ball away far too often, and makes sloppy decisions (see man city goal in cup).

He's an average journeyman midfielder, who i would class in the same grouping as players like Jenas and Huddlestone. Has hte occasional dream game but has no consistency or star quality.

He wouldn't even get in to Liverpool's midfield :p

If Spud's throw it away you mean... 3 points ahead and a game in hand. Hard to see spuds losing 5th.

What happens if Man City win the FA cup? they get an extra Europa spot right? seeing as how they are going to finish top 4, that will be going to 6th I assume?

Seems Mourinho is upsetting Guardiola before the game, exactly as Mourinho planned! I look forward to some more managerial naivety tonight!

Actually makes a lot of sense. He played exceptionally well with Carroll. And he's a scouser anyway.

As much as i can see the logic behind it - team mates etc - i dread to think what will happen, he is not exactly a player with a great disciplinary record on and off the field.
