anelka > torres

probably the best game he's had for us, after months of being shite :p

seems to be playing behind the 2 strikers as well, could be epic with torres instead of kalou

If you don't think that being closer to the ball when it will land is an advantage then football clearly is too high brow for you.

was it too hard to read? I admitted he could be offside because of that rule, but not from the example you were referring to.

/edit: The thing is, it's 2 different situations. First the pass which doesn't reach him. It's a new situation after the clearance as it was created by the defenders bad technique and not the pass. So he doesn't actually get advantage of the pass, but the clearence.

The shot by a team-mate (A) (in this case a pass by Coleman) rebounds off an opponent (Koscielny) to attacker (B) (Saha) who is penalised for playing the ball having previously been in an offside position.

I'm not sure it could be that much more simple. There is no easier way of breaking this down for you. This offside is exactly the example used in Fifa's laws of the game, number 12. Wow.

Tranmere vs Rochdale - Dale's fearless captain Gary "Jonah" Jones equalizes with the last kick of the game to earn a precious away point!!! Get in!!!

Think that's 13 goals for Jonah from midfield this season, not bad for a 33 year old who I think has only score 4 goals total over the last two seasons.

Up the Dale!

because it's not a rebound. Wow.

the example in number 12 is being blocked, not cleared backwards.

You're just making yourself look stupid now, honestly please stop.

You're an ass. As soon as you're running out of arguments, you start the personal insults. I won't bother with you anymore, however I'll gladly continue the discussion with everybody else in here.

You're right, I've run out of arguments because you are arguing with me, and not with the simple fact of what is offside when it's laid out in the most simple of documents.

I personally insulted you because you're too stupid to understand a very, very simple rule. There's nothing more I can say because it really is that simple, you're looking for stuff that doesn't exist. There is no definition between blocks and clearances. If Kos was passing it back to the GK, then it would have been offside, but he clearly wasn't.

I can see what's going on here. Classic girl mistake.

Offside occurs when the ball leaves the foot of the first player. It doesn't matter if the ball hits a defender and is deflected, or if the defender tries to clear it - the offence has already happened - when the pass was made.

Basic mistake Wonk, tbfh. You're not a female ref are you?

Edit: Can't believe I'm sticking up for that AIDS riddled arse-monkey ;)

sigh, ok, he's the difference.

It's a ball that Kos tries to get under control with a shot/clearence. He fumbles it, which makes it a new situation. It would have been a rebound if somebody hit him with the ball, and he couldn't react to it. Saha is not active. He's not pressuring the defence or getting the ball, and he therefore doesn't get advantage of the situation.

There is no new situation. Please point to the example in the laws of the game that shows this. Fucking fool. And now you're mistaking active - which is intefering with play - and not gaining an advantage.

Please stop, you're way out of your depth.

sigh, more insults. It does matter. If Saha isn't pressuring Kos then he's not active and it therefore isn't offside.

Again, you're getting interfering with play mixed up with gaining an advantage. Active does not come into play in gaining an advantage, which Saha was.

It's THAT simple.

Seriously, don't bother. It's my job to know what offside is. You're wrong and trying shout longer in the vain thought that will somehow change the laws of offside and make you right. It won't.

Yesterday you were slagging him off, others were saying he was washed up. far from it boys, far from it. He might be an ugly greedy granny shagging cnut but there is no doubt when he is on form he is a top quality striker.

When he is on form is the main part here.

I'm thinking of going a dark redhead next, try and escape the spotlight. Would I be accused of bias if I did that though?

Can we just have a vote on it? Does anyone actually agree with Wonk?

It's not a separate phase of play or whatever bollocks you want to call it wonk, offside is offside. Saha was in an advantageous position when the pass was played. The deflection or attempted clearance is of no consequence.

He's Clattenburg!!! Therefore he does not know offside either, or what a goal is or a foul or fuck all about football ;)
