Tbh, he hasn't been as good since the bus shooting.

He did the same for part of his final year at Arsenal iirc, just didn't turn up or look bothered. For £200k a week he has no excuses.

Too many want-away players bud, when it matters most they won't deliver. You cannot build a side around stars that don't want to be there, Tevez, Adebayor, Ballotelli, Johnson for a start are all unhappy. The back 4 is hardly settled either.

Hopefully. People were saying the same about chelsea years ago tho. "They need time to gel" etc. If they don't win it this year they will surely be favourites next season.

This is not a question of if they can gel though, Tevez has stated he wants out, Adebayor is touting himself to a number of clubs, Johnson is very unhappy at playing second fiddle to SWP, Lescott has been grumbling all season. Hell even Ballotelli has been talking up a move to AC Milan. It just isn't a happy camp and now the mercenaries like Tevez and Adebayor have banked £10 million plus for a years work they are looking to move on again. Might sound mad but I feel for City, they are being badly exploited by some sharks such as Tevez and his agent. That said, the board at City are thick as fuck and they let someone like Bellamy go to keep a workshy fucker like Adebayor happy. Silly sods, if City had kept Bellamy they would be top now imo.

i wonder where the Glazers money has come from, last year it was all doom, gloom and debt, now they are buying property in the US and rumors that they are ready to splash some cash at Man Utd too o_O

Local rumours are that the sale has already been agreed with Glazer getting $500 million up front and the rest on completion which will be the end of the season so as not to derail the current title challenge. Pure speculation imo but I have heard it alot lately so it is definately gaining traction.

so who are the mystery new guys? dum dum dum :)

Ken Bates? :p

Alot of it seems based around the Qatar Foundation who been sitting and waiting to make a move for some time now.
The money certainly has to have come from somewhere as they paid £230m or so debt off and got money to spend elsewhere now, and they wouldnt say where the money to pay of the debt came from.

Certainly would make sense that the club has already gone through a partial takeover and that part of the arrangement was that the highest interest "loans" would get paid off instantly to put the club in a stronger financial position.

Would love the uncertainty of the financial situation to be cleared up, and for the accounts to stop showing a loss due to interest payments. Just hope that the manager is left with complete control without any toying from above.

would they be allowed to sponsor Barcelona and buy Man Utd at the same time?

(or is there more than one of these groups?!)

no reason they couldnt do that.

different countries, different league, different type of deal.
Sponsors have no say on a club runnings afteral

true i guess, still feels fishy to me though! especially considering the size of the deal they have with Barca

though i suppose Barca are hardly a club that would lack the commercial power to bring in another big sponsor if Qatar dudes pull out :p

Not fishy at all, a sponsorship deal is just paying for advertising. There are lots of owners with actual stakes in other clubs - that is more of a conflict. Take Roman for instance :)

yep, if fifa found out that there was any connection between us and Chelsea, WE would get kicked out of CL/EL - it luckily won't be a problem now.

The Spurs Support Trust Chairman has laid into Beckham a bit hasn't he?

BBC Sport - Football - Premier League clubs await LA decision on David Beckham

"He's one of the most over-rated players in the game for a long time," said Kingsley. "He's a circus and totally about David Beckham - not [the club] who he plays for. I just don't want to see him anywhere near Tottenham.

"We have a good team and we're having a good season. If we want to continue with a squad of players that are fighting for each other, they don't need the distraction of some prima donna player who is only interested in himself.

"Yes, he's a good crosser of the ball but his time was years ago. He's let England down in big tournaments. A football team is about 11 men on the pitch, playing as a team. I don't think he's a team player."

I'd love for him to come on loan to sort out our right side for a while :p

Aye that Spurs bloke is a bitter muppet. He also needs to think of the extra revenue that Beckham will help generate, especially from places like Asia where they are Beckham mad.

Only money Ken Bates has is the millions he steals out of honest Leeds United fans pockets every season for vastly overpriced season tickets. :D

Surely Man City must have found some major loopholes in the impending financial regulations? Otherwise they have no chance of making Europe for a long time ... ?

Local reports have indicated a big clearout to slash the wage bill and more emphasis on bringing young talent with lower wage demands. Will believe it when I see it though.

still can't see how they'll balance the books, their wage bill is higher than their income

I wouldn't have believed it of Chelsea 3 years ago but they have really got their shit together. Although Man city is a whole different kettle of fish. Manchester is never going to have the fan base to draw from that London has.

Most of the Manc fans (including Cho) are from London and Surrey though, so I'd be inclined to disagree

;) :D
