Hodgeson seems to do well in cup competitions. In all honesty i'm not surprised he's done so badly with Liverpool in the league, inherited a shit team with no money and no confidence.

"Don't give me inherited. Under Benitez we lost 9 home games in 6 league seasons. And only one defeat was to a side that finished beneath us."

What are Uncle Woys stats after half a season?

still more Bentiez's team than Hodgeson's, except without Mascherano and Alonso because Benitez drove them away.

I think Woy would do well at the England helm. He has a history of getting mediocre teams to play above their means :flame: :p

They seemed to be able to perform under Benitez tho. But look at the wonders that Hodgson has brought in to make his own mark on the squad, Paul Konchesky and Christian Poulsen are really setting Premier League a light. I heard he wanna splash the cash on Carlton Cole as well now, guess he wanna get rid of that Spaniard up top! I think he wanna change the name of the club to Fulpool or Liverham as well.

(I won't mention Meireles cause he has impressed me! :p I would be really surprised if it was Woy who brought him in tho
I am guessing Meireles will be shit now again tho as he is forced to be a winger as soon as Gerrard wants to play)

not doing it now is he? hurpdurp

As under Bentiez, Liverpool just look very average without Torres and Gerrard on form.

Well Fletcher, dont blame you if you stick in a transfer request now. Unbelieveable. Hopefully a 7-0 thrashing some MuppetMick gets the sack. Off I go to cheer on 'pool, had enough of this bullshit.

Not a bad night, shame Chelsea won but it wasn't unexpected. Roy out within 10 days I reckon.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy: I'm a lot better than I was at 6.30 when I got here, to be honest. We played 4-4-2, tried to stop them building from the back and it's a really good victory, I thought we deserved it. We've played well tonight but we were hopeless on Sunday, so let's not get too carried away. Stephen Ward is an unsung hero."

Jesus.. he admited it at last.

Well thats surely not true? Hodgson inherited Mascherano with a caveat that Benetiz had promised he could go to Barcelona at the start of this season. Benetiz tried to hang on to Mascherano for as long as he could, I think he settled for this deal in order to keep committed for one more season. Furthermore Benetiz tried to buy him at Inter. Alonso was tempted by Real.. cant blame him, he is Spanish and its probably a lot more money. He always maintained a good relationship with Benetiz. The only one Benetiz drove away was Riera, which for sure was a mistake because he did well in the season that we were 4 points away from winning the league... if only Benetiz hadnt been so cautious at home.

Dont really know what to think about Hodgson, i think the formation he went with today with Meireles on the right was completely illogical. However all the players were truly woeful. Hard to tell what is more responsible. I dont want Benetiz back. I think he is a very good coach, but not a good overall manager esp in terms of transfers, managing some types of players and press conferences. I accept that it is still not Hodgson's team, however I dont think NESV will back Hodgson in the transfer market. They will want their own guy if they are going to spend any money. No decent managers around at the moment really. Anyone know what Gus Hiddink is doing?

Benitez tried to replace Xabi Alonso with Gareth fucking Barry, that's what propelled him to leave.

Hodgson won't be able to do much this season, since it's very hard to find anyone worth while in January, especially someone who can turn your season around.

Guus Hiddink is managing Turkey and in the last couple of days his agent ruled out any moves. He only came to Chelsea because he was managing Russia meaning Abrahmovic could work his magic.

Haha true, that is fairly offensive thinking about it. I'd like to think that if we had managed to get hold of Barry, he would not have been anywhere near midfield, but at left back where he started and where he belongs. But knowing Benetiz you are probs right, replace one of the best passers in the World with one whos go to move is the awkward sideways shuffle, before passing backwards or sideways.

Oh shit. We are 2 points off Villa and 4 off the Baggies.

This season has been so weird, one to remember and forget so far. Beating Man City and Liverpool, then losing to Wigan and Blackpool.

Barry can do a job at left back, but not a particularly good one unless playing in a wing back system which is soooo 1987 darling. He's good on the left of midfield and best in the centre of midfield, but only if he has a good coaching kicking his butt and keeping him fresh.

In other news Wolves were exceptional tonight, showed just how to compete and win points. Take note Houllier you relic.

I think if Villa fail to win there next match you'll be dragged down into the relegation battle with us lot. Also paper rumour of us being in for Dunne and Ireland on loans.. can see it happening tbh with the McCarthy connection.

Their next match is Chelsea away , then Sunderland at home.
