Our next 5 weeks of league games...

Birmingham v Man Utd

West Brom v Man Utd

Man Utd v Stoke

Tottenham v Man Utd

Man Utd v Birmingham

Blackpool v Man Utd

Man Utd v Aston Villa

Wolverhampton v Man Utd

If we manage 20 points out of the 24 available I think we will break the back of at least 2 of the top 4 and really stretch things out. No forgone conclusions though, a couple of bad injuries in key postitions and it can all go wrong very quickly.

Well done the Arse, good raping of Chelski there. Fantastic result for United, you've just added to the woes of our biggest title rival - no offence to Arsenal, you are in the running too, but chelski were favourites.

Arsenal look much much better than Chelsea though surely..?

I still think Bolton will win it :D

Arsenal were crap against United and if you look where they have dropped points this season (Newcastle, West Brom and Sunderland for instance) you can see a weakness there which has been shown repeatedly over the last 5 seasons. At times they are utterly brilliant but at other times they show a real lack of heart, against United two weeks ago that was exactly the problem, too many of those players weren't up for it and didn't fight, Arshavin was fucking shocking and looked like he wasn't arsed if they lost 10-0 nevermind 1-0.

If Arsenal ever fix those mental issues then I will really take them very seriously, they have the ability to be brilliant but as United have proven over two decades ability doesn't always win you titles but consistency and heart does.

At the moment they do yes...will Chelsea's poor performance last? I very much doubt it. Will Arsenal be able to keep up the pace? Again, I very much doubt it.

Don't really see Chelsea improving that much tbh. they weren't that great in the season start either. It just looked like it cause EVERYTHING worked out for them.

Arsenal needs to buy some experience. A good goalkeeper, a defender like puyol.. people that will fight no matter what. (oh and a good striker cause chamak is a waste of space and Van Persie can't keep 90mins up.)

Instead of taking a step up from previous games they actually took a step down.

Not a chance, you have never been more wrong. Chelsea are a massive threat and they will get alot better than they are now. Arsenal are a very good side but over a season they just aren't strong enough. The gap over Chelsea is far more important, they are now looking at a 9 point gap if we win the game in hand and that is alot of ground to make up.

totally agree with the crazy mate over here.

You can't compare Chelsea and Arsenal. 2 absolutely different teams.

Arsenal is a very good team that i respect so much, but i think Chealse is by far the most strogest Man Utd. opponent.

Arsenal imo cant handle so much pressure.

We're going to get spanked by Man City today, not looking forward to it at all. Going down with the Wolves!

I'd fooking love it if you did, haha, the Villa in the Championship, the world would implode. Word on the wire is Muppet Mick has to beat West Ham to save his job, now watch the scraggy bastard get 6 points at 'Pool and Hammers.

Getting the feeling that there is a massive January cull coming. I can see McCarthy, Hughes, Houllier, Grant, Hodgson and possibly Ancelloti all getting the bullet before the end of the next transfer window.

yeah i agree, theres some definite knife sharpening going on in boardrooms up and down the country atm.

I dont think Grant will be the first to go either.

He is a very good player, best defender in the world? No. Definately worth alot more than Real Madrid are paying though him that is for sure.

i thought he was a high paid footballer ?

cause his transfer was quite expensive.

The report says only £30,000 or so, you know what newspapers are like though, mebbe Vas can give us a better idea as he lives there.

Thing is though, what does giving Ancelotti the boot accomplish, other than paying out for yet another manager's contract, providing a few weeks of 'adjustment' and instigating a (perhaps further) divide between the dressing room. It's not like there's a wealth of managerial talent available right now.

Having said that if we don't pick up 3 points tomorrow, I worry for Carlo's job.

I am not saying it is a good idea at all, quite the opposite infact but the Russian doesn't seem in a patient mood these days and I can see him rolling the dice whilst a title win is still possible rather than letting another month slip by and watching the challenge fall away. If you look back at the calendar this bad run started around the time Wilkins left and regardless of what the club are saying it has definately had an effect, the Russian was very shortsighted when he let Ray go and I can see it costing him dearly.

I reckon if Arsenal can keep Van Persie and Fabregas fit they've got a great chance for the title, their best players seem the most injury prone though. They had a well strong bench yesterday too, something we don't really have even with our entire squad fit.

Don't agree, too many weak links with faint hearts in that squad. They have some brilliant players but all the ability in the world doesn't win titles if you surrender against rough opposition half a dozen times a season. I would take the current Chelsea squad over them any day, get Drogba's head right, fat Frank fully fit and Essien on top form, then Chelsea are fearsome.

Unfortunately I don't think the reasons behind that decision will ever come out, but as the past has shown, the chances of Roman swallowing his pride and admitting he was wrong are about as likely as hell freezing over.

Given the amount of time he was after Carlo which saw us go through Grant, Scolari & Hiddink, it'd seem odd to boot him at the first real 'crisis' under Roman's reign at Chelsea.

I'd guess that with the amount of injuries we've had, certain players know they are guaranteed a start now. It was unlucky Sturridge was injured for last night's game, because he should've started over Kalou, whom shouldn't see the pitch at the start of the game for a long time. No hunger to perform except from Kakuta, McEachran and Sturridge and Lampard after his time out, everyone else is just coasting.

I want to know how much time we spent fucking around knocking the ball between defenders yesterday, waste of time :(

Yeah our midfield has been really terrible lately. Mikel had a stinker (but taking him off didn't exactly work lol) Essien was anonymous and hasn't looked near to his best since coming back although has yet to enjoy a run of games and Lampard obviously isn't ticking yet. Shame all we have to bring in is the world's tiniest midfielder who's barely walked on European soil.

Oh and the defensive errors yesterday make La Liga look like AC Milan of 1990

Nevermind, you are buying Carrick in the summer and everything will be fine then...

We were playing poorly before he got sacked though, and we played very badly with him around under other managers, so I'm not sure that he's the main reason. Problem is we've got loads of players in bad form but nobody to replace them. Last season we could rely on the current crop but instead of Ramires we had Deco, Ballack, Belletti, Joe Cole and Carvalho. That's a hell of a lot of experience and quality not replaced.

he was never that great

Saw him dominate midfield a good number of times in his first year or so with us, he then became very complacent and has not looked the same player since. If you doubt his ability then you haven't watched him enough, his range of passing is excellent and when he is up for it he can be as good as any midfielder in the league but as I said earlier he is a lazy cnut who is happy to take the money whilst giving 70% effort. Back to Spuds for you geordie boy.

Oh for a 25 year old and 100% fit Owen Hargreaves.

chod i dont think that this guy is lazy, maybe the pressure is the main reason.
