you saw benzema, chod ? it's really silly that this player had so bad games with RM.

Its down to him and his mental strenght.

He is able of the best vs Auxerre or Levante, and the worst vs Barca or Sevilla.

However, one of the best strikers atm when it comes to sheer techinique. It's a pitty he doesnt have the personality and brain of Higuain but instead acts like a cold fish half the games. He would be the ultimate striker.

any good transfer rumors today?

Looks like Houllier is shipping out Richard Dunne, John Carew, Steve Sidwell, Brad Friedel and Stephen Warnock. Not sure if they're all going in January but some will, also Reo Coker's contract is unlikely to be extended as he wants a huge payrise.

Quite who will want to join us at the bottom of the table remains a little unclear.

Can you imagine the reaction though? Old Trafford would be burned to the ground.

Because despite our ignorant press, Platini does a good job. He criticises all leagues, it just never gets reported. Some of his views on tackling are silly. But his views on finances and spending in football plus the safe guarding of grass roots are spot on. He needs the time to get these changes all made for the good of the game.

So he hates the English? So what, we hate most Frenchies just as equally.

Yup I agree with Ch3t. On the whole Platini is doing the right thing for the good of the game.

Platini certainly doesn't deserve to be categorised with Blatter.

Chelsea V United rescheduled to the 1st of March. The same week they have Liverpool away :D

Some interesting hypothetical questions in the guardian football pod today!

If the Premier League was for no-rules fighting instead of football, who would win?

If Barcelona and Real Madrid were the 21st and 22nd EPL teams, where would they finish?

If you made a "dream team" out of the other 18 La Liga teams, would they contend with Barca/RM?

El-Hadji Diouf on Carragher

"Carragher, for me, is nothing. He's like a make of ketchup or mustard to a normal person, not important. I played for Liverpool for two years and Carragher never spoke to me. That's life, some people are like that."

1) Newcastle - They got Joey Barton still (iirc - i ignore that fecker).
Man City would have a chance but without Mr Golf Club they lose a bit of their power.

2) Barcelona/Real Madrid in the EPL would certainly be interesting. They rarely meet teams that can close up shop because the weaker La Liga teams dont really seem to know how to do it, unlike those in the EPL.
They clearly would be up in the top 4-5 though along with Man Utd, Chelsea and which ever flavour of the year team is there (Arsenal/City being the likely other teams to be within this group).
This wouldbe interesting though because they would not have so much income available due to the fact they probably each lose about €80-100m a season from not being able to negotiate their own TV rights.

3) Not likely to be able to contend still. Some good players within them but i dont think you could make a successful "team" out of them

I thought Newcastle too, but can't ignore the likes of Stoke and Blackburn. I'd love to see some players in a fight :p

The guy who answered (Sid Lowe) said he reckons they'd come first and second. I think Barcelona would probably win but it'd still be tight. Real Madrid 4th at best imo.

Stoke be a good call, but i think they got a bad rep for little reason. Most of what they do isnt really that bad but people like Arsene are just whiney twats. lol

Barcelona probably would take the title. Madrid 3rd/4th but that depends on manager. Jose would do better then another manager due to his experience in the league.
English teams would need to spend a bit of money to really compete, especially in the midfield area as that is often where you win or lose a game against Barcelona.

Anyone watch Jeremy Kyle christmas special today? (no i dont watch it but my mam had it on :p) there was a 4 year old Liverpool fan with a horrible skin condition and they took him to Anfield and then to Liverpools training ground.

He met a few of the liverpool team and got loads of signed pictures and a few shirts , they said Torres gave him his world cup shirt , cracking jesture that.

Here it is on youtube if anyone wants to watch it.

1. Stoke

2. They would compete and be in the top for but wouldnt score nearly as many goals. I think they would be alot like arsenal.

3. Sadly probably not :(

1. Everton - Tim Cahill is half samoan.

2. Barcelona would win the league. Playing football will always prevail against "hit and hope"

3. No. Wouldnt come close such is the gulf in class.
