Yeah but i mean surely you could play a real team who will give a challenge?

No point testing a formation if you're just going to trash the opposition regardless xd

You are just looking to see if a player is comfortable in a different postition or adapted role mebbe? The Irish boys worked hard, no lack of effort there and so we had to get a good passing game going.

Hasn't harmed us either way, can't say the same for your 3 losses in a row which has made Carlo a bit annoyed, rightly so.

Chelsea bought a great young player. He did a superb season last year coming from brazil without vacations, expecting a lot from him this year after he got finally some rest. He runs all game, got a lot of heart, defends very well and have a perfect positionning. Appears with ease in front of goal and scores some.
If he play as well as last year, Chelsea did probably the best deal of the season.

Villa have drawn Rapid Vienna in the Europa, the same team that put us out last year on away goals. One has to laugh.

Spurs got Young Boys of Bern, the first leg will be at the Stade de Suisse, Wankdorf

If we lose the headlines will almost be worth it

Cesc Fabregas has today released the following statement:

"Firstly I would like to apologise to all the Arsenal fans for not speaking sooner about my future but I have not known what I was going to do until this moment.

"I cannot deny that joining a club like Barcelona was not an attractive move for me. This was the club where I learnt my football, it is my home town where my friends and family are and a club where I have always dreamed of playing. There are not many players in this world who would not want to play for Barcelona.

"I have had many conversations with Arsène Wenger both in person and over the phone over the last few months and although the content of those conversations will remain private, the conclusion is that Barcelona have had two formal offers rejected by Arsenal.

"I am a professional and I fully understand that it is Arsenal's prerogative not to sell me.

"I owe a lot to the Club, manager and the fans and I will respect their decision and will now concentrate on the new season ahead with Arsenal.

"I can assure all the fans that now the negotiations have ended I will be 100 percent focused on playing for Arsenal.

"I am an Arsenal player and as soon as I step out on to the pitch, that is the only club I will be thinking about.

"I am looking forward to the start of the season and putting this speculation behind me."

Unlucky Barce he is not playing your game if you want him you are going to have to pay.

why havent Barca had their wrist slapped over this anyway?

I'm sick of seeing each and every Barca player rolled out to the media to state "we'd love Cesc to come here"

Barce just have to say the players are doing it because they want to not because they are told. So unless they actually have proof the players are told they probably have no powers. I think everyone knows the clubs behind it but how can you prove it.

It isn't exactly a ringing endorsement that he sees his future as an Arsenal player...

Everyone know he will end up at Barce, Arsenal fans have known that for years, what this does show is that he will not do what Barce want and demand a transfer so they can get a £60m player for £25m. I always thought that come his 11th season with us his contract will run out and he will go. If they want him before that he will cost them.

I'm liking the double-negative here.

If we keep him his future value will drop. Besides if they get into the Champions League this season then, in all honesty, Milner would probably not be good enough for their midfield given all their money.

Man City are a cancer on football, Chelsea started the rot and this is simply the continuation of it.

Unfortunately Villa need the money and we can't get in players until Milner goes. Not that I expect us to do a lot of deals - we will probably sign Robbie Keane for a forward option, Aiden McGeady for a midfield option and possibly a full back.

A lot of Villa fans were hoping we'd sign Stephen Ireland as part of the Milner deal but he's on blinking huge wages and they wouldn't fit into our wage structure, sadly.

This is the bottom line. We cant afford what hes worth.

However, its no secret he is dying to join Barcelona. His father was on spanish media pretty much everyday saying his son dreams of playing for Barca again and cant wait until its sorted. However, Villa took a huge chunk out of our transfer budget, but we needed him more than we do cesc so im sure next summer we will have the funds to pay Arsenal what he is worth

I think if you came with between £50-£60 mil i think Wenger will let him go. It is clear one day he wants to play for you guys again but i love character in doing the right thing.

the amounts being talked about are stupid cesc is not worth 80 mill

not as a player and not as an assest, he will never recoup the club that kind of money nor would arsenal lose anthing like that in competition money or shirt sales ect

30-40 mill would be about right but cos or ronaldo and kaka everyone seems to thing thier player values have suddenly trebled

like liverpool valuing mascherano at 50 mill and villa wanting 30 mill for james milner

LOL soze, it sounds to me like Cesc realises he has no choice. The parallels to the Ronaldo transfer saga are too many to count. He'll go next season, and for between £30 and £40million.

They paid 40 for Villa a 28-29 year old they will pay more for a 23 year old Cesc. He is 23 and already considered one of the best and he will only get better, he has 3 years left on his contract if Barce want him they will pay and pay like they did for Villa and the lanky streak of piss. The only way they get him cheaper is if Cesc demands the transfer.

I think the financial situation at Barca that has come to light recently will stop them paying silly money. They'll sell before they buy, and I really doub't you'll get over £40 million. You could have possibly got a little more this summer, but next summer there will be one less year, and if it's another poor Arsenal season then he'll ask to go. IMO.

Also with Villa, they paid over the odds to sign THE Spanish striker, the guy is a living legend in Spain.

Barcelona won't pay more than £35 million for him, end of story, this year or next year. I don't blame them either, they just don't need him that badly.

I am surprised Man U fans who saw there team hold out for 80 assume we will just fold and sell for less than he is worth. I do not know if it is ego about your own club or a lack of respect for us.

No it's Real being extremly stupis, we didn't hold out for 80, we held out till Ronaldo wanted to leave. It's simple Real's way to splash the cash to make headlines. I truly believe we'd have sold him for less if Real had offered less. Fair play to Ronaldo for getting us good value though.

I don't think you'll get that for Fabregas because Barca have their big signing of this summer. Next season they know that Cesc really does want to go to them, so they won't pay silly money, combined with their financial situation.

Just to be clear i do not think we will get 80 but in a time when Milner is worth 30 ect i do not think we should sell Cesc for £35

well milner isnt worth 30

about 15 would be right for milner

and about 30 for fab

i dunno why people seem to think players are worth so much when u can get a replacement from the dutch/italian/german league for a few million

like we got torres for 23mill and suddenly he's worth 50 even after a shit world cup?

When there was already a bid of £20m on the table for him? And he cost £12m before being voted PFA Young Player of the Year and becoming an England regular.

Typical Liverpool delusion really.

If Milner is worth £30m, Cesc is worth £100m and Ronaldo/ Messi £150m
