It was obviously a dive but UEFA have shown no intentions to punish anyone else at all so the ban was ridiculous.

its actually basically the same as the CL structure so i doubt it'll affect most teams, perhaps the smaller clubs who hunt for cheaper players abroad? I know we'll be fine even with our current squad.

seems daft that teams will be forced to play players who arent as good as others in the squad though.

Why when according to the rules,

"The definition of home grown is trained for three years under the age of 21 by somebody in the English and Welsh professional system.

Ahh i didnt read that part , i saw most of it on the tv. :)

doesnt seem like this will make much difference to anyone actually. we'll probably not loan any of our most promising players out anymore which wont really help anyone.

I wonder how the new debt rules will actually work. Atm Liverpool, West ham and Portsmouth are all in a poor way. Will anything actually happen though? :d

not a player that will be in the 2010 squad.

*shrug* Capello seems to like him and with him in the team we see the best of Lampard and Gerard. Without him and Barry they would look like strangers again.

As said Arsenal are fine players like Cesc Denilson Clichey ect all signed before 18thbirthdays so count as homegrown.

If anything this will see a rise in the signing of 16/17 year olds.

Personally I think the new financial restrictions may affect the top clubs more. Arsenal may be adversly affected if the money made from the housing developments at Highbury cannot be spent on players.

It wont affect us under Wenger he has money now but does not want to spend it so unless there is a big policy shift i don't see a drama really.

No one said anything about Barry, who fully deserves his place.

As for the home grown rule, it's preparation for UEFA's much stronger rule that will probably hit the season after.

Chelsea only have 8 home grown players in their current squad according to sky sports, Man utd have 19 and Villa have 24 - the most in the league.

These new financial restrictions are NOT the ones suggested by UEFA. The premier league rules simply say they will take sanctions against clubs who are late in paying other teams for transfers, players wages and the inland revenue. They do not sanction clubs for being in debt or spending outside their means. UEFA want clubs to only be able to spend from the revenue they earn each year, and not allow clubs to be in debt.

UEFA suggested rules are rediculous and would never hold up in court. Who decides whether a PLC company has the means to buy an expensive player. Luckily EPL realises that and has tonned them down. As part of these plans every club must be independently audited and the audit findings passed to the EPL for scrutiny. It's a bit more than checking the ILR were paid on time.

The EUFA plan would ban clubs from participating in UEFA competions, if allowed to go through. It will be interesting to see what happens. EUFA is clearly jealous of EPL's money and wants to get their hands on it by any means possible. Quite laughable really. Seb Blatters probably pocketed more WC bribes away than the EPL makes in 10 years! Biggest crook in Sport by a country mile.

So they want the football businesses to be ran totally different to most other companies out there? Cool.

I was making a point about how Capello has got the best out of Lampard and Gerard. But never mind.

The only way to get the best out of those two is drop one (rotation) and play the other alongside Hargreaves or Barry.

Not as if they're doing badly, 4 goals between them in one match :)

CL just started and Pepe is playing for Real Madrid.. Seems like if your payroll is big enough you won't be punished as hard as you should be

Still have 2 days ban in La Liga left
