How does everyone feel their respective clubs have done in the summer transfer window?

Quite pleased. Added a very good centre back in Dunne to replace Laursen. Has been a long time since we had a snarling 'in your face' kind of competitor, should add a lot to the team -- even if he isn't quite as good as Laursen at his best.

Downing will be an inspired signing and free up Ashley Young for a different role in the team or just provide competition to keep them both on their toes. Delph looks like he will be a class act, a very exciting talent that I am delighted about.

Beye and Collins add depth to the squad and Warnock should quickly turn Shorey into our reserve left back which further adds depth.

Would have liked a striker but our first choices (Sturridge and Owen) went to Chelsea and Man United. Bent would have been nice but paying Spurs more for him than they spent on Crouch would have left a bad taste. Besides ... screw the red faced twat and his perpetually overrated Cockney wannabees.

Villa to finish ahead of Man City and Spurs this season. Watch our Liverpool we want fourth!

Oh and hello from Istanbul. Sitting here in my hotel looking out over the Bosphorus to Asia, white sailed yachts flitting about between the merchant ships and gulls tap dancing on the roofs of the Ottoman houses next door. Shame I have to go home in two days :(

Obviously gutted about Alonso

But Glen has been superb so far. And i have a good feeling about Aquilani but only the future will tell :p
A bit sad no proper striker sub/4-4-2 option has been brought in tho :(

mixed really on the one hand added some decent players like olofynjana (i cant be arsed to work out how to spell it properly yet :p ) and molyonko (again same :p ) and altidore have potential to be awesome, Ghilas too seems to be pretty sharp (once he starts scoring regularly that is he seems to have a lot of near misses at the moment!) obviously gutted to have lost Turner (our best defender, but also the most booked player last season afaik) but with Sonko and Mcshane it should cover the gap, Zayatte has potential to do well he just seems a bit accident prone (as in makes mistakes) and needs to have some real competition to stop him being a douche, stephen hunt seems a pretty good signing too!

so i guess overall im pretty happy, but with a slight sour taste with the last minute loss of Turner!

Footballing governming bodies really do hate us :p

I love how they waited until just after the transfer window to slap this ban on. The same thing happened to Roma/Mexes a while back but an appeal reduced the ban.

If this sticks i hope then they better bother opening the massive can of worms that goes with it. Almost every big club in Europe has done this at some point.

They have? Examples please, or are you getting confused with "tapping a player up" which is totally different.

Aye breach of contract goes beyond tapping up, it is a much more serious offence under FIFA rules as contracts underpin the entire business side of the game, allowing contact breaches would really open up a can of worms for them.

Yes i'm sure we're the first club to ever sign a youngster like this, just like Eduardo's the first player to ever dive in football.

Apparently we "induced the player" to cancel his contract. Seems a bit vague, i'm sure Roman's team of lawyers will have a field day with that one

How is this worse than teams like real madrid telling the world they would get ronaldo and make him richest player in world and already had shirts with his name on ready last season. Thats just a craftyier way of convincing a player to break contract and leave

Ofc it is, when a massive club like madrid expresses an interest in you and makes it known to the world they want you, if you then express your desire to leave and join them before your contract expires isnt that the same?. Would lescott still be at everton now if man city had not made it public they wanted him. Everton didnt want to sell but in the end they had to because he really wanted to go, end result a players contract was ended early because another team told the world they wanted him. Only diff with chelsea is they told the player directly and didnt do it the route of announcing it to the world. End result is the same tho

Doesnt seem as bad as the West ham/tevez thing or when Manutd illegally "signed" Mikel. Anyway not bothered about that.

Not really worried about this either. Our squad is massive and strong as it is and this will give our youth (who are actually promising for a change) a chance if need be. And then there's the fact that Roma appealed the same decision and won (took 2 appeals) and i expect the same to happen here, reducing it to a single window.

End result is not the same at all. Chelsea got him to BREAK HIS CONTRACT, which is a hell of a lot different to real madrid tapping up Ronaldo or man City tapping up lescott. lescott and ronaldo didnt break their contracts.

all 3 players ended up leaving their clubs before their contracts where up and before the clubs wanted them to go. End result the same. Only difference is united and everton resigned themselfs to it and got what they could out of it.

That's a big difference though.

Manchester United should be in the same trouble regarding the signing of a player Pogba though, he was under contract in France (same laws) but him and his parents broke that contract because Utd offered him a load of money.

But Everton and Man United had a choice, Lens never. This is the difference and the reason why its NOT the same.

A more pertinent point would be to say that all 3 incidents were fuelled by player power, showing that in this day and age, the ultimate power is held by the player and not the club.

Bully walks upto 3 kids ina playground and demands to beat them up if they dont giv him their fave toys. Two boys give the bully their toys and one doesnt. In reward for giving the toys the bully hands the two boys some money (even tho both boys would have much rather kept their toys). The third boy is just beaten up and the toy taken anyway. Same situation for all 3 just two decided not to stand up to the bully.

Btw im not QQing that chelsea didnt deserve punishment, i just want all clubs punished for this type of behaviour because as seen i include this and tapping up as very closely related. Same as the eduardo dive, i feel all players should be punished like that or none.
