Just watched the entire derby game again, how good was Giggs? The bloke just defies all logic when it comes to wingers in their 30's. I can see him being like Zola and Sheringham, playing at the top 5 years beyond when most players reach their expiry date. Legend.

Also he still runs fast with the ball, and more importantly the ball is literally stuck to his feet! If you look at Shawn Wright-Phillips he just kicks the ball up the pitch and runs after it. Giggs just runs fast with glue on his boots.

Maldini is fucking amazing, however the italian's play slower football so although he must have lost alot of his speed, the leagues playstyle would not have punished him too hard.

Bollocks. Giggs plays in the most physical league in the world in the most physically demanding postition as far as speed goes and he still shines years after people started writing him off. Maldini is a legend no doubt, I am not saying Giggs is better but he is definately in that class of player. Sorry if you disagree but you are wrong if you do and are being blinded by club loyalties.

We would never be able to gauge the real class of Maldini, since he only played in the Serie A, a league where the defenses are used to take the incoming attackers already filtered by 1 or 2 solid defensive midfielders, and where the playstyle is much more slow paced than EPL or LaLiga

Sure he's great.

But tbh, last year , cl finale against barca, giggs and scholes were totally outplayed by xavi and iniesta.. they just couldn't cope with the speed of those playing.

Was really sad to see, those great players looking old and slow. then again, iniesta is UBERRRRRRRRRRRR

Scholes, Anderson and Carrick were awful. Without distribution from the centre there isn't alot Giggs can do to effect the game, he cannot be blamed for the failings of those other 3 who all had bad bad nights. Iniesta was good though I will admit.
