Arsenal for Premier League champions? I really, really don't think so. But I wonder what the excuse will be after the game ... perhaps you will be anti-football long ball bullies too? And to think the FA Cup was thrown for a run at the league...

Super super super super super park powah!

Loving the beeb live feed for this:
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at the Emirates: "Arsene Wenger looks furious about the ease with which Ji-Sung Park scored Manchester United's third - how about embarrassment Arsene? Park ran more than half the length of the field without any Arsenal player even attempting a tackle. Just like their beating at home to Chelsea, this is turning into a sobering afternoon for Wenger and his team. The Emirates is quiet. Very quiet."

1712: Arsenal will have to take a long, hard look at themselves after this one. They have been systematically ripped apart on the break. Cesc Fabregas drives over from outside the United box.

United goal: I'm sorry, but that's pathetic. United move it beautifully on halfway and Michael Carrick lifts it over the top for Ji-Sung Park to run through. For some reason, the nearest Arsenal players seem to back off, allowing him the freedom to run through on goal and coolly slot past Manuel Almunia. Men against boys.

i notice there is some rampant Arsenal hate going on here. I understand it from the little teams like villa but come on mancs you beat us no need to laugh too!

Seriously though I want a new goalkeeper and i want Diaby back Denilson looks like he can't be bothered atm. Well done Mancs though took your chances well. I wonder how it would have gone if Arshavin had squared one of the early chances.

Not from me, I am just messing. Arsenal are a good side and they created alot of chances playing good football. We were deadly on the break and tactically a bit better, both sides are closely matched though. Oh and I am the only Manc posting in this thread I think. ;)

Hardly, always good to see one of the "Big Four" turned over. Liverpool have provided plenty of amusement this season but it was your turn this weekend. As for being a small club, I have a favourite song it goes by the name of "Have you won the European Cup, the European Cup, the European Cup? Have you won the European Cup?" Admittedly it is a little repetitive.

I bet the Arsenal excuse will be something along the lines of: "We still have a young team! In a year or two we'll be fierce!"

How many years have we heard that line now?

From Arsen

It is difficult to take but easy to explain because we were poor offensively and defensively cohesion-wise. We delivered an off-the-mark performance completely and that is why we were well beaten today. We gave them always too much room, we were naive. I believe we have to stick together now, recover and produce a much better performance next Sunday [against Chelsea].
You always have to answer these sorts of questions [after a defeat]. Man United, in the last six away games against a top-four team, they got one point. Today is the first game in seven they won away from home against a top-four team. You could have said before that they were naive but they are not. They were better than us today for two reasons: one, they played well and two, we were not at our level. Why? It is too early to analyse that. I believe there are some mental reasons in there but it is difficult to say.

How the press will spin and other people take it is out of his control.

Umm, I think that would be a big fat "no" actually. Plus the European Cup was actually competed for only by champions, it was a much superior competition -- just not the cash cow that the new format has become.

You said European Cup we won the "European Cup" Winners Cup so what i said was true it was a joke and meant as humour, i actually take enjoyment out of football. But you are right about the new CL it is crap and bltantly about money.

You were the one who called us part of the Big Four again so you must be the part of the Little 16? Middle 13?

I prefer to think of them as the bitter 16. ;)

To be fair if the european cup still had the old format, the chances are that Manchester Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea would have all won it atleast once recently, with Utd many times. Wouldnt be very hard when the only testing opposition would be spanish/italian.

I don't understand that. If Chelsea and Arsenal didn't win it in an easier format, why would they win it with a more difficult format and when they have less opportunities to try? They'd also have a lot less playing resources as they wouldn't have the huge monies regular CL qualification brings them.

I'm a man utd fan so was pleased with the result. Nani was a totally different player which is a good thing to see, although I hope he keeps this up!

Arsenal had some good chances via Arshavin and he was unlucky not to score, however Ruud Gullit was correct when he said "he never looked up for people he could pass to, he just created the little bit of space to take a shot".

Arshavin was not unlucky, he was wasteful. You see meerkats in the wild, they always have their heads up, looking around, spotting the threat, It seems captivity has dulled his senses.
