Hi this is my first try on a thane template, so i would like to hear what you think of it, bad things, what should be changed, stuff like that.

I have Stormcalling on my Pre-TOA template, but it doesn't do a lot.
If you have fairly high Stormcalling to start with, it adds about 1 damage to your DD per point in Stormcalling.

So my advice is: only put in Stormcalling if you have a gap to fill, don't sacrifice for it. Nice work on the template though :)

i'd swap any stormcalling for piety. You only need enough stormcalling to make your sc to 50 for varience purposes, whereas piety adds noticable damage and also adds to your power pool.

Unless you have less than 40 stormcalling.

I've got 48 stormcalling for the final DD and don't have any +sc in template as i get 50 with rr bonus.

Also are you intending to use the belt of the sun weapons? If you are i'd adjust your template round them.

What he said. Especially given that we get more damage from our nukes in 1.68, so our nuke output - which is modifed by our Piety stat - becomes more of a factor in our overall damage output.

Got other nice templates for hammer thane besides mogg's? I'd brefer a template where most items would be drops - few arties could be part of the set too - crafted items would be mostly in the template items like jewelry, bracers etc.

I was working on a first draft of my ideal template today, major problem with strength being overcapped and no parry and dropping 3 in shield, + a few expensive items in thee but i'm working on it.

I donno if this been in some othe topic or something, but i've heard that the sunweapons aint sposed to b that good in pvp because they do *whateverdamagetheydoidontremember* even tho they debuff procc vs that type, all have alot of resists vs it usually?

They do energy damage.

It's hard to work out exactly as I don't know the mechanics, but even with high resists and buffs they might work out better than normal weapons as you have both meelee resists, armour and abs rate. Basically it's a free mp legendary weapon from what I can tell...

Again not entirely sure, not done enough RvR with them so far to notice.

I am working on a template myself but still not really done. There's a little issues with it like little qui and less spirit resists.

Here's what I came up in the first part, not including the parts as they probably change again before this day is over..

Question: Is there any good +qui items that also include other usable stats and resists like spirit(Like remove overcapped slash/crush and put in spirit..)?

(Btw Template is made with norse racial resists and axe but that is esily changed as axe skill are in sc parts and used axe(malice) will be hammer later on I heard..

I don't personally own belt of sun, but I've heard that if one dies the equipped weapon will disappear - and if one dies in certain time, all sun weapons generated by the belt will disappear from one's inventory.. so wouldn't battler / malice be better to use as a weapon then?

Also I fancy hammers these days. Better styles and causes less fatigue. So a hammer thane template would be nice to have..

Yep the weapons will dissapear if you die during night time or /quit. The Sun weapons are NOT among the best out there but they are decent overall, have a Thane friendly resist debuff and MOST importantly they are free 100% weapons (for PvE at least)...

Quite a number of nice/cheap/ridiculous/godlike/hopless/artifact heavy/insane templates there, (be sure to check out the german one...) along with quite a lot of other stuff regarding Thanes...

Some of us don't like playing savages though and can't be arsed to spent 20+ days played leveling one and optimising it. I'm quite happy playing my thane TBH can do decent enough damage in groups and don't have to sit around bored for hours during keep taking/defending.
With foundations thanes will become more popular anyway as det is nerfed into oblivion and we will all be getting static tempest to destroy the concept of a pbaoe box forever ;)

What we need is less attitudes like yours which can only see a very narrow play style and actually get people who know how to purge and demezz properly ;)

About realm abilities.. which realm abilities are mandatory to have for shield hammer tank thane? I have now long wing 1, first aid 1, augmented dexterity.

Have 2 realm skill points atm to spent.

I got aug dex II, then MoBlock and MoPain and purge. If you plan on meeting albs/hibs purge is very much needed, and for me as a troll MoBlock is much needed(I have it on level 2).

I specced out of purge, in it's current state it is only up every 30 mins and resets the immunity timer, don't see at worthwhile for the cost.

ATM i have
Aug acuity 2
Aug dex 2
Wild Power 2
MoBlock 2
Long Wind
A few others which i'll have to check.

Wild power is an interesting one as it also allows weapon procs to crit which has potential, doesn't add huge damage to spells but makes a difference.

Aug Acuity = waste.
Get Purge and IP, aug con followed up by toughness. Aug dex and MoB.

It's a matter of playstyle though I cast as much as meelee so try to optimise my casting, i'd prefer not to have aug acuity but it's needed for the caster RAs

I found IP only really useful when solo or with little or no healers, again for 23 realm points for a spell which can be used every 30 minutes I can't see the benefits outweighing the cost for me..

I will probably get purge when I hit RR4 but that's still a way off.

I havent looked into a thane-template alot, but my first thoughts would be to cap +dex-cap rather than +str-cap since dex will give better blocking and faster castspeed, str still only slightly improve our already and anyways crappy WS. I would go +25 dex-cap (or 26), then castingspeed, castingdamage, +piety-cap, meleespeed, then if possible, maybe some +str, but since we aint an offensive meleetank I wouldnt prior it tbh. That is for shieldspecced thane btw, for a 2h I would prior +str cap.

Whoever thought of that you should only be able to edit for 20 mins should get a 20 mins headstart before being chased by something that he is afraid of.

Anyways, remove +castdamage, or move it down the list to last spot :)
