b) Obviously, she has already seen the doctor to be on the pill and we know it suits her. But if you read the thread before your attempt at 'le flame' you would have known that the pill, even when working completely properly, has a success rate of about ~99%. Statistically, that'll fuck a normal couple over in ... a year? Maybe less.

We've decided to go condom style btw and I shall be raiding many clinics soon xD

P.S - anyone tried flavoured ones? Expensive though...

But in a catch 22 - maybe your statement about stuff not being informed is not informed itself and therefore stuff that may be informed is informed but may not be because it also applies that said person may not be informed but thats assuming that your statement is informed and therefore potentially the other is not informed. I only got to page 4 of the replies here but alot of the advice in this thread is just plain WRONG.

Firstly, the 7 day before effectiveness, this varies according to the type of pill for some it is two weeks for some it is until the next period. The leaflet that comes with it will tell you when it is 'safe'.

Second, if you forget to take one. The impact of this depends entirely on the type of pill. Some types (mostly combined pills) have a 12 hour 'grace' period others have only a 2 hour window. To be effective the pill should be taken at the same time of day every day. I've been taking the pill for over 18 years (no lectures on health risks thanks I am well informed about them) in that time I have forgotten to take it once and once took it from the wrong end of the packet. Other risk factors here are antibiotics and illness as vomting or diarrohea will mean you haven't kept enough of the hormones in your body for it to be effective.

Third, 99% effectiveness does not mean that statistically you'll get pregnant if you have sex 100 times. Even ignoring probability theory of those 100 times you would not get pregnant the majority of them even with no protection at all.

Fourth, prescriptions for contraceptives in the UK are free.

I'm sure others learnt new things from the post too so all is good.

For Gamah, Tris and co. Please grow up. I posted here looking for thoughts, opinions and people's own experiances. I didn't ask for abuse or sarcastic comments. I know you find it hard to post respectably in a serious thread but from now on, if you have the urge to post silly things, just don't post at all.

It takes a lot to offend me - there has only ever been 2/3 people on here who ever really wound me up - the first time it happened I left FH for 6m+ as I just couldnt be bothered with the nonsense but these days not a lot winds me up tbh - I am big enough, ugly enough and old enough to ignore most things..
