No it does not, unless you have a previous testing invite - either to this weekend (November 11th to 13th) or to general Game Testing (ongoing). The Beta Testing Weekend we are referring to will happen within the next few weeks.

Yes. The game client has changed substantially since earlier Game Testing phases, and you'll need to re-download it for the upcoming Testing Weekend. If you have been invited to the 11-13th of November Beta Testing Weekend, you will need to patch the game client for the upcoming Beta Testing Weekend.

Will I need to re-download the game client after the upcoming Beta Testing Weekend, or can I use it during Early Game Access?

You may have to re-download the game client. This will be confirmed after the upcoming Beta Testing Weekend.

What if I do not live in a launch country for Star Wars: The Old Republic?

As long as you are signed up and opted in for testing, you will be invited to test in the upcoming Beta Testing Weekend.

What if I have not signed up, or opted in for testing by November 11th?

We are partnering with a number of games media sites worldwide to give away Beta Test Weekend Codes. They are listed in this article. If you receive a code from any of these sites, you will need to sign up on StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com to redeem that code. Further instructions are listed in the post directly below this one.

Should I try and get a key from a media partner, just in case?

If you were already signed up for testing before November 11th, you do not need an additional key. By taking a key, you'll deny someone else a chance to test the game - so please do not apply for a key you will not need!

I played at Eurogamer in September, it was just the starter area. Was just like ever other mmo except you had people talking to you.

That was most likely an old build, since Eurogamer and other conventions are heavily locked down and 6+ versions behind what is on Beta Weekend test servers.

Played for a few days now. Obviously I'm not meant to be too specific, but it's looking good. Seen a few moans on the tester forums about CTD's and lag, but even though I'm playing on a less than cutting edge laptop, it's running really well and I have no complaints at all about stability/performance.

It is an mmorpg, and so has that particular style of gameplay, the bits that it does differently (and hence the pretty huge size of the download) really add to the experience (sorry to be vague, but you'll see what I mean).

Then of course it's Star Wars, set in the Star Wars universe so it has all kinds of awesomeness for a fan of Star Wars. Last night I stumbled upon an early version of the AT AT Walker (this is the old republic, so the ones from Empire are obviously a later model) but it was obvious what it was, and I nearly wet my pants in excitement.

I haven't played a mmorpg seriously since SWG's release, but I will be playing this one. A lot.

The beta keys are only for the big stress test weekend at the end of the month.
The invite mail with the download link should come next week or at the start of the week after that....

Well that is your choice. if you preorder and want early access you need to download it all anyways etc. And was always going to be a massive download. You cant have fully voiced mmo's and it still just be like 6gig in size. As games grow so will their size.

Got optical fibre in the UK downloading @ 4600-4900kb/s at the moment.

I have normal BT ADSL so I download at 500kbps. That's roughly 16 hours lol.

My maths is shit but at 5mbps that's still 3.3 hours
