Okay - Friday news didn't provide any explanation to the increase. However they are looking for more people for Rightnow CS - guess it is their saleries they want us to pay :)

Well they shut thier own forums down something like 3-4 weeks after the game went live(I think). So the main customer support area went out the window the minute they started making money. I wouldn't work for a firm like that, I'd rather get a job in the Microsoft complaints department.

Hello,

More than a year after its launch, Dark Age of Camelot is going through a new evaluation of its subscription prices, while remaining the cheapest 2nd generation MMORPG on the market (from 9.16 € per month).
This change of tariffs will take effect at the 5th of May 2003 onwards, and will affect the subscriptions signed after this date.
The subscriptions still valid before the revaluation will not be affected until they are renewed, after the 5th of May 2003 onwards.

From this date the new subscription tariffs will be :

1 month subscription : 8£ or 12€
3 months subscription : 22£ or 32€ (less than 11 € per month)
6 months subscription : 41£ or 60€ (10€ per month)

On this occasion we have decided to create a new type of subscription, 12 months for 75£ or 110€ (9.16€ per month).

Looks like alot of people are off anyway. Not just to SWG but some friends are off to Planetside, waiting for EQ 2, WoW. Heck some are off to the US version of DAoC.

Well, with all that CRAPPY work GOA is making, with no tech support, with no ONLINE support, with delay of patches, with not working xml, with just pure NO HELP to players they want to INCREASE price?

Well ... it is start for me to search for another game i think

Ok - going through that list we have Shadowbane - currently European beta has been suspended as the company is in a financial hole - probably due to the fact that the game has been in development for years - by the time it does come out (if ever) it will probably be badly dated.

Istaria is pretty un-original fare and still in early beta.

Eve online - you thought killing stuff got dull until you tried mining asteroids in this one - PvP free for all - hope you liked camlann...

City of hero's - hmm - when everyone has super powers how can they really be larger than life heroes? Expect lots of sucky superhero names - unoriginal powers - hmm fire control... ill call him Fireman!!!

You forgot Star Wars Galaxies - should be in US Retail within a month or two - looks ok and should be scarily popular just dont expect to jump in an X-wing till the expansion...

Well just to point out a few things, Did i say any of these games are any good? i just posted the links for people to take a look for them selves

Shadowbane we should know about at the end of this month if it will be released by swing or if they will have to sell on the rights.

the Game is not called Istaria for a start. umm and it has got some damn nice idea's, plus u cant call it un-original, you play DAOC ffs :) plus MMORPG's are all pretty much the same with some different Flavorings,

And i didn't put SW:G because it was in the post above, i was just adding some more links for people.

swg aint gonna appeal to every one imo , its better suited to single player games ...i myself prefer games set around stuff like daoc an hate sci fi mmorpgs :p

However, anyone who thinks GOA and Mythic suck should avoid anything that is connected with Verant (subsidiary of Sony, and here I mean EQ, EQ2, and SWG).

While GOA and Mythic are bunglers, and Mythic is generally just neglectful and untalented as far as development goes, Verant is actively evil towards the players. I played EQ for a long time, so I know.

As to GOA upping their pay, I just want to give them a hearty:

FUCK YOU!!!!

The only reason we play on this server is for the pals we made in beta and for the fun of meeting folk in other countries (Treeanna and I live in the US). Another attractive feature was that it costs us about 5$ less on a 6 month tab.

Frankly, I dont want GOA filling the server with their English-illiterate staff posing as in-game CS, or more of their shiitty "events" that do nothing but disrupt play.

Mythic has fumbled this game badly in any event atm.

Since wife is still having a great time (she is much less picky than me), I resumed the accounts at the old rates for another term, but that is the end unless something really amazing comes of this.

GOA, I hope you crash and burn so that a decent, english or german company takes over the franchise...you suck.

i was gonna come abck to daoc in the summer, just to doss about, not really a hardcore player. but this isnt really worth it. id rather play something newer, for the same price.

just to add my flames here too - GOA can go fuck them selves really. what are we getting for this extra £2 a month? are they gonning buy some french - english dictionaries for their staff so they can give us proper support? its like me asking everyone here for £2, why would you want to give me it? you wouldnt because im not giving you anything just like GOA shit fuckers arnt.

edit: btw if your not arsed about getting another MMORPG then give C&C Generals a try, pretty fucking good online if you like that kinda of thing.

maybe it would be wise to just patch english servers just as fast as US since its all in english.

then it would be worth the extra £2

and what if the germans,french think its unfair? they can just whine about the US ones too.

Well i just think its a bit off, making us pay more, when we get the worst service of all, the french and germans get a better service than we do, let alone the yanks.

Well, i have only used CS once in the 16 months i am playing now
Imho they could cut down half of their employees there ;)

Still 20% raise without a justification is pretty bad..
Won't make me stop playing tho

Anyways this thread is getting to long, read the first 7 pages but now i am to tired to read any more of the whining etc

glad i cancelled my account last month, i played the game since the start, i remeber the offical boards, you know the one ones they shut down because everyone was slagging them off, for thier piss poor customer support..

Anywho as soon as the new games come out, things are gonna get worse, imagine the server populations, every other person you see is gonna be a buffbot.

The fuckers even turned my Thurg into an infiltrator
