This is my 2nd bass, i got it from an old hippie who did'nt use it anymore, i just love it, it's the perfect Rock'n roll bass

Sadly i have no guitar atm, but planning to buy 1 soon.

thats mine, epiphone SG400 Custom. Perfect guitar for me, neck is perfect for my hands, middle pickup really adds a lot, tone is fucking awesome. Better than the gibson sg i owned before.
the neck looks darker on my one though.

Dunno if you've got yourself sorted with some kit yet, but been going through my spare room and decided that I'm not going to carry on with electric guitar any more (don't have the time, or the ability or the commitment at the moment), so if you're still looking for a deal then you might want to have a think about taking mine on second hand. I have two guitars, a small amp and an effects board as well as a load of cables, spare strings and CD roms of teach yourself gubbins.

The second guitar and amp aren't great - part of a beginners pack from Argos or somewhere, but the main guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Special Edition like this but in yellow/red and has hardly been used.

The effects pedal is a Korg Toneworks of some kind, but can't remember many details - got lots and lots of different effects.

The reason I'm posting this instead of pm'ing it is because I don't know how much this stuff is worth, or whether its worth it for a starter.

If you're interested Yshynsin (or anyone else for that matter) send me a pm and we can have a chat about it. The only problem is that you'd have to come and collect it from Leeds as it would cost a bomb to post, but your loc is east midlands, so maybe thats doable

Well, what a day hehe, went round a friends and he has a guitar, Ibanez, very nice

He taught me a few things, i can read Tabs now, and can play the intro to Smoke on the Water brokendown and i can do it a bit faster every so often.

Its really good, i tried Enter Sandman, i can do the first 4 notes things and working on the 5th which is to bring ur 3rd finger up one, quite confusing, it will come with practice

Just need to convince dad to get me one now, i really enjoyed it!

Mainly taught myself though. Unfortunatly I never had lessons, so my skills on reading and writing music are shit, and I couldn't even tell you what different notes are on my bass

Well mates, i got lucky, today went to Soundcontrol in Milton Keynes and my dad decided to treat me to one, got for 80 quid reduced from 180 so its a good deal, need to tune it up and i sould be rocking through the night

I currently play a blonde flame maple j-custom built ibanez prestige. It's general design is like an RG but more pointy

I'm currently looking for a set of EPR-2 Gotoh straplocks if anyone knows where I can get them from. The last time I looked, the closest I could find any was in switzerland

a while ago i got some locking strap buttons, but when i tried fixing them to my guitar (see up page) the screws were too small for the holes already made by the exisiting strap buttons. The guy in the shop suggested woodfiller, but i dont wanna ruin it. Anyone had any problems with this and what they do to fix the locking strap buttons in?

Woodfiller isn't the most elegant of solutions, but it should work fine. You'd be surprised how many times things like that end up being done as the only sensible solution to exactly that kind of problem.

To be honest, you really are better just getting a good book and gradually working your way through it.

The Guitar Grimoire series is very good, and one of the few sets of books I'd recommend.

Don't try to bite off more than you can chew by learning everything at once, just take it in in small portions and learn each little bit thoroughly before trying to assimilate something new.

THought i would bump this as after christmas people might have got a guitar and it is a very usefull resource, easier than searching throuhg page upon page of google looking for this stuff.

As for me, im still palying and working on solos now, i hae been inprovising them using scales etc. And im really enjoying the guitar, i've made some new friends at school from it and its just made life better really, gives me something more intresting to do lol.

Got a new amp for christmas and a Distortion metal pedal in the post, i love it.

Get a wah pedal that suits your style though, as far as I know different wah pedals have different degrees of "wah" and different tones afaik. The zakk wylde cry baby is a very short scale on the step and produces a really sharp, crunchy wah.

Other peple might nit agree with this, but im learning all the chords and scales 4 months later and i have the patience to do it becase i know that i can actually play a song which keeps the intrest of a guitar because the most boring thing when you get a new electric is the books that say, learn this chord, learn this, play this 'Little Bird' or somehting silly..

Most of all jsut enjoy it

personally i still play guitar, but mostly create my own rhythm's etc rather than solos, i havent moved onto them yet, i personally just feel comfortable just messing around on my guitar knowing chords etc.

I only use it for learning new tunes, but it can do much, much more.
