Unmetered will *not* be 0800, or 0808, or anything else that BW get billed by the minute for. We think we know our users call profiles reasonably well, and we just can't support paying your phonebills for you

Surftime isn't an option because it's engineered to hit BT's IP backbone before it hits our network. This means that basically we can't control the traffic which means you get a crap game. For which you're paying a monthly subscription fee. We don't think that's fair to anyone.

So we're investigating telco options for unmetered access straight to our dialup. It definately won't be a RedHotAnt style "50 quid a year and that's your lot" however, because it's just not possible to support that way. It will definately be limited to a certain number of users, because we have to offer a topnotch service both to unmetered customers and to 0845 customers.

Right now, the telco's don't have a product to offer us. But we're likely to be early adopters of that kind of product No dates or likely prices I'm afraid for BW providing an unmetered service, because I'm getting no dates or prices out of telco's. You'll all be among the first to know when we offer unmetered access, I promise.

We have some serious Cisco kit too in our office.... all fibre gigabit backbone.... all Cisco switches at 100Meg to desk and one muther of a main core router/switch (a cisco 6500 similar to your new baby!!!) http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/cisco/mkt/switch/cat/6000/
