Just had Sony in the office showcasing this product, Looks a VERY good handset.
Comes with some snazzy in ear phones too, looks like gonna be available for pre-order soon.

1.5 quad-core
5" full hd screen
13mp camera with HDR on both video and on still shots
2.2mp front facing camera with full 1080p
can submerge it in water up to 1meter too

16GB internal and SD slot.

My estimations are too that it'll be available free of charge for around the £30 marker making it potentially the best value product on the market!

Sony. They will stop supporting it within 6 months.

It will be broken long before that!

Also, is that a real SD slot for memory upgrade or new Sony preparatory design that will cost $60 for 4 Gb?

Tis a real microSD slot,

As for it being broken and all that, Sony really upped their game with the Xperia T, I sell ALOT of that phone, but this will definitely be a great seller and overshadow the likes of the S3 I reckon

Seeing that the S3 is nearly a year old it isn't surprising it could be better.

Well in terms of market popularity I mean, I work in phone sales you see and the UK market goes like this.... "HI MATE WHATS BETTER AN IPHONE 5 OR AN S3"
The One X came out 3 months before the S3 and was the same spec etc, but samsung marketted their product much better, highest spec phone on the market is the One X+ but hardly anybody knows of it heh

Of course they will. Thats why my year old Xperia S has just has another update, with another due in March. It's still working an absolute treat, and the only reason it will be getting replaced is because I want a Z.

meh, my Xperia play isnt supported - the game store is a fucking joke and the firmware is ancient. My PsP stopped being supported within a year. The PsP Vita is dying on it's arse, Sony don't seem to care all that much.

I won't be buying another Sony product in a while...

They should stick to making over priced TVs.

Xperia Play was a novelty product, released by a different company. How is that relevant? Or the Vitas slow sales to phone software updates?

Is it currently running 4.1 and getting 4.2 in March? A 4 month turn around for an update is nothing to brag about. No better or worse than the others but still crap.

Nexus accept no substitute.

Looks ok. Decent spes - especially the screen. Being sony, I'm sure the camera / sound chip will be pretty good. Not sure I want another Samsung Galaxy. I'm happy with the 2, but wasn't sold on the 3 or Note2.

Plus another x amount of months if branded, although again that is the same as most phones. Still waiting for the ICS update on my mums T Mobile Xperia U.

I do have to say though that to me 5" is just too big imo, I'd really have to play with it to see.

Sub 4 is the only phones i buy I don't like the 5" phones either. The Note 2 is a small tablet not a big phone. And yeah my last two Android phones have been SIM Free Nexus phones. It is the only way to get updates in a timely manor. Samsung are not the worse by a long shot HTC in my experience were utter shite.

TechRadar like it - apart from the screen when viewed "off angle". Those port covers will never last. If they're just a bit of cheaply attached rubber loosely dangling out of the chasis, they'll be yanked off within a month.

I have the same port covers on my S, still attached 1 year later, and I hardly wrap my phone in.cotton wool (don't even bother with a case). You'd have to be pretty clumsy to break one off.

Got my Xperia Z yesterday, gotta say it was a very good purchase + I got Pair of Sony MDR-1RBT headphones free with it which are pretty darn good too! definitely recommend this phone! nice speeds etc and good feel, only issue I have with it is the camera loads up in about 1-2 seconds where as my One X quicklaunch was far superior!

*jealous*

Cant justify an upgrade just yet, still got 12 months to run and my Xperia S is still rocking the casbah. Still want a Z tho....

I really like the splash resistance on it. That is a good idea. Phones that can survive a trip to the washing up bowl or a puddle are a brilliant idea.

Helps in the most common place people drop them, in the toilet.

Personally I like the HTC One a lot from what I've seen as well, seems a number of manufacturers have raised their game.

You can get a nano coating for any phone to make it water proof. Was demonstrated at CES last year and this year.

I heard that a high amount of phones get dropped down the bog, I really have no idea how. Unless people really do tweet their bowel movements!?

Interesting, but I've not seen it being sold anywhere. I'd also have to question what kind of warranty it had should your phone die anyway after getting wet. I'm really surprised that other high end smartphones haven't though of Sony's approach before, it's a really good USP.

The video I saw but can't find now shows a machine you can place any device into it and they then fumigate it with this nano coating.

Not sure where you can get this done though.

I assume most manufacturers will eventually have their products water proofed in the near future.
