Some thoughts on 'adding'...

I was talking to someone about this the other day... it seems to have come to a point where people who used to play together and have fun go to bitching at eachother.
I'll call it the "high-RR"-syndrome.

I've seen many people fall to this "disease". I've been in rvr so many times with relative new players or at least new rvr-ers. All is fine, good fights, good laughs (zerg fights AND fg fights) and then there's the turning point when they get a bit of a decent RR and some even discover the use of mirc - and down go all the values you used to love about those people as they start treating their 'friends' shit because they started thinking they are so much better then anyone else. The attitude has born where they'll only invite people who got such and such skill to wtfpwn an enemy group with in their 8 vs 8 ickle group.
Old friends you used to have a laugh with and enjoy fights with... who were they again? o yeah, they are the 'adding-non-leet'-people who we'll just ignore from now on.

It sums it about up really with this sentence:
The game has evolved (sp?) to something where you can hardly find any 'sane' minds at high RR's.

Do i sound bitter? Hmm maybe yes, because it's a shame to see people fall for the same bit day in day out. And the most annoying thing of all is - it's from those people you can expect the most abuse when you come across them in rvr and who seem to have forgotten how they used to play and actually enjoy it.

I have seen it happend alot in rl as well..in sports..hobbies people have etc. Shame though that the people that gets dilusions of grandeur(sp?) get it ina feckin game worth nothing when its over. Just the bitter tase saying that you behaved like an ars to a lot of people. The people that did behaved ina good way and used their social skill realise they did have something left..friends and people that respected them as human beings.
Its sad to see how so many people confuse gametyles with rl social behaviour. When in so many cases they themself behaves like assholes to a nother human being..while the guy they are attacking just have a certain gamestyle that have nothing to do with human behaviour. And the poeple that still think it does cant have many rl friends around them. if they do it must be people thinking exactly like they do and have same opinion. Otherwise they would be fast to start lable those friends and start abusing them as well. Not many people wanna be around that tbh...

The usual response you get when comfronting them with this is that they just lable people in the game and they see the difference etc. But many of these people also use the argument: "Well there are real people on the other side of the screen..cant you see"?
Well lol...do these people suddenly disapear and become a game mechanic or game mob when these same poeple abuse those other people? How in that situasion were it comes to REAL comunication and REAL social skills they fail utterly and abuse, but when someone just play a certain style in game and using no verbal abuse or comunication is it a question of being an ars?
It seems some people doesnt know what social skills are, or how to use them. Its ok to have different opinions...ur mom have it...ur friends have it( if you have any)...ur borther...people at school etc. But you dont go and abuse them right?
Comon..start using those grey cells up there and people might start giving you real respect.
Something you will never have when acting like a rascist punk kid..

but what you are writing about comes from all the different daoc camps .. its not a sertain group that does this the most or anything .. coz they ur blind if yah think that ... thats why i get annoyed as sertain ppl almost allways blame the 8v8 guilds for this .. its a common thing from all camps .. and sadly a common thing for the internet as a whole .. not just daoc..

and i sertainly dont think it has something to do with ppl getting highRR ..

Im not blind and i do see who is usually responsible for most whines and abuse. It does exist in all camps. But take a look at these boards and in game and if ur not blind you see plainly who use abuse or lable people in the first place. Im not talking about the discussion that developped now...cause that brought abuse from people from all camps. But thats not how it began or usually begins..
I know a great deal of poeple in this game since i started early and i think behaved quite nornally and didnt put any people off. I seen change in some poeple thats been staggering. And that change have only aplied in a really bad way in the really competitive people...that suddenly have something to prove. sadly but true. The people that i know that plays it like they have and just keep enjoying it with their friends and guild havent changed. Sure they can get tired of certain aspects and whine a bit, but not like that other nasty sickly change you see in some other poeple that have risen in ranks or suddenly think they are above other people...
Im talking from my experience, and others might have others. But condisdering what you see on these boards or the playesr you have met over the years, i think i have a pretty clear picture of who will come out of this game with the honor intact and which wont...

I don't think it's as common as you make it sound. Sure it happens, for example in midgard some people I used to know and play with daily changed a lot after joining a certain uberguild and started to look down on every1 else, but if thats their choice so be it. Usually its just like Phake said, playstyle may change but the person is still same old...

Personally I rvr only with 8v8 players but I know plenty of people who play the game differently, and I definitely don't think they're any worse or have anything against them (yeah yeah I've done my share of add/zerg whine, but I only whine at hypocrits who claim to play 8v8 game yet still just zerg). It's just a practical problem - 8v8 is very "advanced" these days, if you want to compete you really need to have a full group of like minded players just to begin with. Players from the different "camps" just dont fit well into same groups because of very different expectations and playstyle required.

No, I wouldn't have a problem with this, cause I know that I am not on the top of the food chain in this game and I know that your assumption about me is simply wrong. I know when I am very good at something and can take the title then, in DAoC it's not the case.

Anyway... You call DAoC a war game? Did you ever play EVE Online? This is a war game. If I don't like someone there because of the ingame actions the person represents I can for example pay some other players to destroy the ingame existance of the person by waging war on the person, the corp (guild) or alliance he is in. I can pay his guild leader to exclude him from the corp he is on or I join his corp and play his best friend just to rob him at the end and leave him without assets. And yeah, it's all within the code of conduct and the company providing the game wants it this way.

In DAoC you don't have a death penalty, but WAR IS ABOUT PENALTIES AND WAITING FOR PEACE. In DAoC you can act like you want to, zerg add or camp a tower with your DI bot, all you earn is realm points and all you can earn is the same treatment, you will never regret what you did to your enemy the way you would regret it in a game with a fully developed character interaction and war system.

War means extinction, destroyment of life, assets not a neverending fighting to relax.

Am getting tired of this discussion, I usually log in in the nights or morning to have some 1 vs 1 fights and it ends with some high RR duos or trios or carebear zergs against me, then I log off and try to get a FG later to have FG vs FG fights. I don't enjoy anything else much but the server is in a shit state and you know the rest.

If he has his arguments for it, why not? I wouldn't play with two Necros in a RvR group and try to kill your group with them. Some things in DAoC are rather pointless to try .

Thanes already has nukes with higher delve than 150 though so dunno why you would need that proc to kill ml9-pets with thanes.
