Some home truths about Cutting Edge

Well as you may have gathered, I'm going for good now. This post is here to clear up any doubts as to my departure. I feel the need to do this because I have no doubt whatsoever that a certain character will put a positive spin on my leaving. I want to nip that in the bud.

This post will help my old friends understand my reasons for going, but also will serve to show the new people going to CE PvP exactly what they are letting themselves in for.

First, some background. I was in Nazgul before Killgorde quit that guild and created Cutting Edge. He invited me and several others to quit Nazgul and join him. I decided to join CE on the promise of quality RvR. It turned out to be a good move in the early days. We were "having a blast" as Killgorde always liked to say we should. It was great fun marauding the albion frontiers.

Then, as in every guild, there was some signs of tension. There was a run in with Derianna. Now Derianna is a fine healer, but he is a perfectionist and can get quite upset if you spoil his game plan. One evening in Sauvage, we happened across a bunch of blue and green cons. My first reaction was to use AOE poison. This happened to break Derianna's AOE mezz spell and gave us a harder fight than we should have had. Well we all make mistakes in the heat of the battle and I accept that. What lit the blue touch paper was that Derianna had a real go at me, threatening me if I ever used my AOE in his presence again. Now I can listen to criticism, but I do not take kindly to threats, especially as I pay £6 a month to play a GAME. I apologised for my mistake, and to credit Derianna he apologised for going overboard. I made an extra effort after that to use AOE on special occasions only (keeps, milegates). I certainly had no further complaints about it.

Then, another evening, we happen upon a dozen albs at AMG Odin's. We almost ran into them, but I managed to root almost all of them with my insta-root. Unfortunately, Pibe unleashed his AOE and the freed albs wiped us out. Now don't get me wrong, Pibe is a great guy and I have no quarrel with him. But I asked in a polite fashion if he noticed my root. What he said was that he didn't care for my root and was only interested if I had stun. If I didn't like it I should not party with him. I know he's Italian, but there's no other interpretation in what he said. His english is quite good. Well given that I had a public dressing down by Derianna for fucking up, it seemed a little unfair that I get another dressing down for daring to question another (and I was far more polite). Actually, to be honest I was pretty pissed off. To have a guild mate tell you where to go like that upset me. So what did I do? Well I decided to seek another opinion on the matter. So I approached Killgorde and asked him. This is the conversation (including the bits with Pibe). Read it and see what you make of it:

Some comments about these:

- I showed these to independent people and the polite end of things describing Killgorde's behaviour are patronising and condescending.
- you can see I'm upset by Pibe's remarks. I didn't mind the mistake. It was more the "I don't need you, don't party me".
- he accuses me and Derianna as being hotheads.
- I didn't like this because I don't sound off at people like Derianna. You would never catch me calling Barbar an idiot, for example. I have asked several people and they disagree with Killgorde...Derianna and I are not exactly the same.
- I'll grant that Killgorde does say some conciliatory things like saying we all fuck up. But he fails to appreciate the not so subtle point I was making, that it is hypocrisy to allow some guild members like Derianna flame me, yet not allow me to humbly ask others about their mistakes.
- Killgorde seizes the opportunity to flame me too. He resorts to offensive remarks about diplomacy and the such. When it is clear he is not prepared (or incapable) of reasoned debate, he makes a crass suggestion and leaves. What a GM!

Killgorde's response really pissed me off. While I can see some attempts at mediation, on the whole he went off the rails. I think he was upset that I AOEd at a keep defence rather than heal him. Well fair enough Killgorde that may be the case, but you should know by now the number of times I have forced parties back from the doors at keeps with poison...it's what I'm good at. Also there were 2 other healers in the party, so don't pick on me alone. Furthermore, you're not in the habit of protecting me of late. There's been a recent trend of albs gunning for me. But where were you to guard me? How can you expect me to keep constant eye on your health and repel attackers with my main weapon if you cannot be trusted to watch my health either? Do unto others mate.

I decided that this situation was pretty shitty. Killgorde had been patronising and rude. The guild had some clear double standards. So I quit and lived on Prydwen for a while. Playing alts is fun (surely the aim of the game), but I did miss RvR in Excal. I canvassed opinion to find out what was being said in my absence, hoping that some regret would be shown on Killgorde's behalf. I asked two friends to find out what people were saying (I state categorically that I put these two guys up to this...I apologise for showing these but they prove some points):

- in this one there is a grain of truth. Kill did ask me to consider my actions...that I do not deny. But he is lying to say I did not accept my errors. He should ask Derianna if I apologised for the Sauvage incident for example. I don't know where he got the bit about refusing to acknowledge pissing people off. It's all bullshit. I never go out of my way to fuck people off, something Killgorde is a master at. How he can have the temerity to describe myself and Derianna as impulsivley emotional I do not know. Another characteristic trait displayed there: jugdmental (and also rude).

This one's a classic. Caught with his pants down. Resorting to lying now. Why? Perhaps he realised I had friends and it would do him no good to slag me off a lot.

So some examples of deceit and spin used by our glorious leader to paint the picture he wants. He does it a lot. When Attle quit recently, Killgorde had to do him down by calling him an item whore over the legion raid. Why doesn't he just let sleeping dogs lie and stop being so vindictive? Attle has gone so stop being rude about him. More examples later.

Back to the plot. One evening I was doing a cash exchange and I happened upon Cubby. I asked him how things fared and he said that almost all the guild wanted me back. That was uplifting news. Of course I could not return yet, but when he said that Killgorde had stated that the door was still open I decided to return. After all, that's the nearest I would get for an apology from him.

So I returned and got back to RvR with Ebeneezer, but I also played alts too. Now I'll always maintain that the game is for fun, not for anybody's personal agenda. If I want to play alts then I will. Others in the guild play alts too. Everyone was fine, well almost everyone. I noticed that Killgorde was reluctant to talk to me. So I decided to ask what the problem was (using alt named Giselle):

Now you can see what has prompted my departure. I cannot be having anything to do with such a self-centred, condescending, manipulative and childish person. It all made perfect sense now. Killgorde was sulking that Ebeneezer was not there for him all the time. He once asked me to be his "personal physician" a long time ago. He wants me to buff him. He wants me to follow him around like a lapdog.

Again the lies are there. He says I do no RvR. That's bollocks. In fact we were in Albion together defending keeps the day before. With Jimli remember? Convenient memory is when you want to put a guilt trip on someone. People (enemies included) will vouch for my presence.

He has no time to listen to me, but rather embarks on his own mission statement and his belief that I don't conform to it. His abhorrence of alts is clear. Well perhaps he should ban all alts then instead of moaning at me? Perhaps he should delete his own alt (named Hisownstupidity)? Perhaps he should stop being a hypocrite and discussing levelling alts with trebuchets on the PvP server?

Now I said I was tired of Eben eating dirt and I wanted a change, so I levelled my runie. What's it go to do with anyone which character I play? I like my nuker and want to try it in RvR. Who cares if I die more, let me find out. Don't moan at me because I'm not there 24/7 giving you might of the deep.

He says he needed Ebeneezer in Hibernia but is afraid to ask. Doesn't stop him trying the manipulative guilt trip saying things like it's too late, moment gone. I'm not falling for that.

He says he is all about RvR focus. Explain your alt. Explain the prince raids to get your precious sword while ignoring a shammies long standing plea for a GA hammer. Explain the WoW hunting. It's not RvR focus...it's Killgorde focus. Do as he says and ye shall be blessed.

Here's more garbage about him investing in me. You didn't make me. Yes you helped but I did most of the work. Besides, you're a fool if you believe I have given you nothing in return.

The insult about RPs sums him up. He's quite happy to make cheap jibes at people he thinks he is speaking to privately. Well there it is in all it's glory. Why the fuck would I roll a runie if I wanted to be #1? I don't care. But what this shows is the nasty side to his nature. Once you're in his bad books that's it. Well he is the only person on the server to even suggest that. So that makes him a nasty piece of work in my books. I have nothing against Area (unlike him), but to suggest we're the same - erm how many chars have I deleted? Again cheap and sinister. Some other of his remarks in guild chat:

Derianna - he described as a hothead, emotionally impulsive, "damaged goods"

Oloren - hothead

Xandax - hothead, something wrong with him to delete 50 char

Kull - item whore, no heart (see screenies)

Attle - item whore

Gerual - thick

Area, Zombie - idiots who roam realms

Deny it all you like Kill - but many witnesses know this is all true.

See how it's all quickly forgotten when I tell him Eben is ready for him. Mission accomplished for Killgorde...not.

Well that's it for me. Now you know a bit more about the "Saviour of Midgard". If you join him you now know the whole horrible truth. I for one will not tolerate his sulking adolescent behaviour anymore. I paid money to do what I want in game, not being some tyrants buff-gimp.

Sorry for the rant, but as you can see from the screenies I wasn't going to let this lie.

funny, its the exact same guy from when I tried my luck with planing relicraid, and playing this game as a realm/team-game.

He never had any constructive to say, he just babbled out with his oppinions and views, not listening to the rest of us, or giving us any input we could use. Then we decided to just ignore him and leave him out. Result?

Killgorde is genrally a really nice guy...

not spoke to him in a long time (since we fell out back in the old Nazgul days) so i can't really comment on him now.

He just wants things to go right too much. (bad thing?)

He likes to play tactically, an is pretty good at leading, but when things dont go according to plan he can get a little hot headed.

i have always had a high opinion of killgorde he is a good leader but that went down to hating to stupid git when i found out he called a very nice girl a whore for no dam reason other than she made mistake in rvr that was so dam pathetic to call any girl that for something she did by acident in game he does not no her irl.

Hehehe - well Killgorde for one (and most other old CE) know (should) why I left CE back when I did.
The main reason involve one of the persons you had difficulties with Ebe. - and I have also been told somewhat similar thinges as you apparently have.
(don't get me wrong -have no problem with Killgorde or many other in CE, think they have done/do much for Midgard)

No one's perfect...me less than most.

Thanks for making that perfectly clear to everyone Ebe. The public manner of your displaying it I am sure will show your level of maturity and character in the correct light. Nice collection of screenies as well...would that I had the time and inclination like yourself to make a collection for public airing. That isn't my style m8...though obviously its the kind of thing you enjoy doing.

But lets clarify one issue. Every action with respect to players in the guild I take is based not on a "Killgorde knows best" basis, but as a mirror reflecting the general consensus of opinion of the majority of people in the guild. Your spat with Derianna was one incident when I erred..because the majority decision of the guys in the guild was that you were the one out of order and not him, and yet I backed you (looking back now God alone knows why ) Perhaps you can explain to everyone out there that while I may put people forward for approval who wish to join the guild, it is your collective decision without my involvement as to whether that person joins or not. Every decision I make is based on the the majority interests and the feelings of the guild members. No individual member of the guild is more important than the team unit and that includes myself. Putting the interests of the team before any personal self interest is the basis upon which this guild was founded. If someone decides to dedicate his time to playing and levelling an alt on a full time basis rather than recognising the need of the other members for his presence why should he complain about feeling "shunned" in /gc, - when the team is fully focussed on keeping each other alive rather than pandering to his insatiable need for attention?

Lets talk about time shall we? I average anywhere between 10 and 30 pm's an hour ingame, whether its relic/keep raid plans being put forward, mgc frontier defence issues, CE position availability or a lot of guys who just want an old fashioned chat. Each and every one of them I try to respond to politely and comprehensively while at the same time leading the crew and trying to outwit our opponents in the Frontiers. If you wanted some quality time from me and the rest of the team, levelling an alt away from the action where everyone else is isn't the right way of doing it. Especially when there are some of us who have given you a hell of a lot of individual attention off our own backs to level your primary char (who you announce you are retiring) out of friendship and a wish to help you out.

You said to me "I will always come when asked as Ebe" last night? I and nobody else in CE will ever ask you to do something you don't wish to do. That isn't the way we operate. Its something you should choose to do because you want to help out. We play together as a team because we enjoy each others company and it is the choice of every individual whether they wish to take part or not. A case in point was earlier in the evening when we were crying out for a secondary support for a trip to the gorge. We weren't going to ask you to join even though your services would have been appreciated by everyone present. YOU chose not to, we got wiped (and Xanthian you hit way too hard m8 ), and then you start complaining about getting shunned? Maybe you should consider whether or not you will ever be a true team player when your first priority has always apparantly been to put your own interests above that of those that considered you their friend.

As far as Attle is concerned, he will be the first to admit that his over-riding ambition is acquiring the best items items available for his char, something you failed to mention wasn't sitting very pretty with the rest of the guild. And I quote from my original CE statement way back in June

Any other pursuits are considered of little interest. For example: We feel that with the advent of DF and Epic armour making 90% of current Midgard drops redundant for high levels in the not too distant future, extended time presently being spent acquiring them (and arguing about who ultimately receives them) is time wasted. Raising funds on occasion, however, is a necessary evil.

For the record, I've grouped twice with Killgorde sofar. One time for my epic armour (Again BIG thank you to that CE team) and once in albion for RvR.

You fotget mate 1 major fact of being a shaman, everyone thinks of you as nothing but a buff bot.

1 If anyone dies, they will instantly blame Shaman for not healing. Dosent matter if 7 other members of grp are healers, they think shaman has nothing else to do but heal.

2 If not rezzed then its Shamys fault as he has nothing else to do. After all Ae Dots don't hurt (Honest)

3 Shamys are Gimps if not speced full Aug, reason there gimps is they dont fit everyones nice Slave idea.

4 Conforming and being a full Aug Shamy, can be compared to a $10 Hoar, once you buff them they say thanks then couldent care what hapens to you Though maybe if you think of your buffs as given them a dose you might enjoy it

5 FREE THE BUFFBOT SLAVES, AND EXECUTE SHAMY SLAVERY SIMPITHIZERS

Killgorde, when i was in midgard, i had nothing but the upmost respect for you. I now realise that leaving midgard was one of the best moves i could have made. It does shock me how you could be that two-faced about one of your own guild members. Another thing i was shocked about was in one of the chat logs it said that blizzard had been disbanded from the alliance.... well the last time i saw a blizzard member defending the amg was a couple of weeks back, which was the last time i saw any decent players defending the amg in odin...... big mistake to let them go i think. As i said before, i had a lot of respect for you when i was in midgard.... but after reading this post about you, ive come to a new opinion about you.

I find it hard to believe that you went out souley for your own benefit on all those prince raids blizzard helped you with, just to get your nice sword, but you dont have the time to get Ebe a GA hammer that he has wanted for a long time. Its not exactly hard to kill mobs for an hour with 2fg of CE or something.
I find it hard to believe that you can be angry at Ebe for politely asking someone why they did what they did.... he wasnt flaming at them, merely asking in a polite manner why Pibe did what happened.... and all he gets back was people flaming him for being polite.


I think there is one sentance to sum you up.....

Ok i did not read it all so carfully but i did catch some parts i think some are a bit silly too actully. I mean pibe did a misstake and said something stupid and u drag it up here?

And derianna, myself i think she is a cute healer, nice to most ppl. She always ressed me when i was blue/green conn, did not tell me what to do and what i did wrong the few times i have been grouping with her. And sometimes you get angry on ppl for destroying their work. For example that ae mezz. I totaly understand why she got upset there.

And personaly i think Killgorde is doing a good job and he can NOT controll everything that happends etc. Try it yourself maybe?
And if he says stupid things about people, so? it happends? Like you never said something evul about someone :/

Err Splash m8...just some ill-informed member posting about the incident when The Lords disbanded without leaving the MGC and when I attempted to delete them some bug took out Blizzard instead. Blizzard's exit form the alliance lasted about an half an hour until I could link up with someone to reinstate you; and that was bloody ages ago.

I have no wish to defend myself against any accusations questioning my integrity bar one. Peeps that know me know exactly where I am coming from at all times and have the right to make up their own minds as to my honesty based on what they read or what they have experienced grouping, campaigning or even just chatting to me.

There is, however, one small issue posted above which has annoyed the absolute bejesus out of me:

The only issue to which I can remember this being attributed was an incident between myself and an unnamed player who where actually involved in a roleplay (nothing kinky for you tabloid readers out there who enjoy the Daily Smut ) relationship between two consenting adults over a period of time. If (and I have no reason to doubt it) this is the lady in question, it comes as no surprise that the events were twisted by his own malignant and vicious hand to fit the above storyline. The fact that Ruathian has the dubious repution of being regarded universally as Midgard's prize wanker, coupled with a consistently evil propensity to villify and try to tarnish with the most intense spitefullness the reputation of a whole host of ex-guildmates (all of them really nice peeps) leaves me in know doubt as to his motives. Perhaps one might ask of him why the lady in question refuses even to admit to having an IRL acquaintance with him. Perhaps for fear of the embarrassment of ridicule from her peers? And they might also ask this truly sad bastard (even his brother won't give him the time of day, allegedly) why the lady in question has recently joined and is now currently a member of CE. If I was truly the blackhearted bastard he would like to portray with his musings would not this guild be the last one she would join? I could also refer you to his fracas with Sub on these very forums, but I guess you who like to devour and believe everything you read, even when posted by a person with as little wit and even less personality as our Mr Ruathian, have already been there.

I do not have the ability to hate, but I do afford myself the luxury (unpleasant a character trait as it is) to despise. Not very often does this manifest itself. In the context of this server there are very very few people on the list of those that I do, but Ruathian stands head and shoulders above the other two or three here.

Anyway, I think you might wanna consider joining another guild instead of leaving the game compeletely. It's kinda sad if you have a lvl 50 and a quite high alt as it seems and then you quit... but it's your decision and I respect it.

Personally I have always been more sceptical towards sweet-talkers then hotheads ...
