I always used to love soloing on my merc, however it needs lots of cash about 15 plat for repairing artis alone, then getting it cl weapong / cl5 etc

and thats a lot of time and effort to put into something that would only be an alt to play when I want to solo

Yea, its a seperate topic i guess, but arti repair costs still daft. Why punish the dedicated rvr player? Surely if they wanted a plat sink mythic could of come up with something different.

they tried to make the arti repair cheaper... however it only worked for "new" artis after that patch I think.

I read his post and I read yours and tbh u sound like the moron. He is trying to make a point relevent to the post. You are random shit slinging (and its not even good shit slinging)

I read your post, and confirmed it matched the usual shit you post.

Not like Muy is renown for his deep insight, but the one he posted now was outright ridiculous. He is trying to make a point? He is trying to make a point by comparing a computer game to World War 2 and it really struggles to make sense. He also concludes with some flawed conclusion that scores high on the idiotmeter.

Guess you just tried to seize the opportunity to badmouth me, but then again nothing more to expect from a sad person of your character.

no not really. I just read his post as an attempt to contribute something and yours as just random flame.

That post wasn't worth anymore than a random flame in my "humble" opinion.

I agree with censi, this truly is the end of days... ;)

Muy tried to get across his point by way of an example - might not have been a good example, certainly didn't deserve that flame.

The stupidness of that post, and that user's posting merits easily qualified for deserving "a random flame". I could have written it in a more discreet matter, but sometimes something just needs to be said aloud.

That comparison was shit with little to zero information on why the german U-Boote had some trouble mid WW2 out ouf a sudden.

convoying (oh noes, they are grouping !), escorting (oh no, he has a tank stuck to his arse !), sonar (wtf ?!? how did they find us), long range patrol planes (err ... vampires !!!) ...

Manisch Depressiv said:
(hint: cryptographics).

oh noes !?! we have spies in the BG. side note about cryptographcs. if it was a decisive factor, germans would have noticed their code was compromised.

Manisch Depressiv said:
and you ended it with asking for stealther zergs trying to build up some connection.

i was merely sugesting that for stealthers, grouping is a way to increase succesrate, stay competitive in a changing evirnment where the stealth game is become increasingly hard, difficult and frustrating as soloer.

Manisch Depressiv said:
It is a game and I do chose how I play when I am online. Not you, not GoA.

you make your choises, and they are the source of your frustration because too many people don't make the same choise. you choose to play solo, you limit yourself, you handicap yourself against people who don't do the same. you play the game how you want, they play the game how they want. 2 diff play styles might not match very well for 1 of the 2 parties.

Sigh. Convoys, escorts, patrols for all units existed long time before. Sonar made it easier yes, but you still had to know in what area a submarine was in order to locate it for an attack.

Smart use of the information gained from cryptographics leads to measuares that do not reveal a cracked code, they just end as a small noise in the flow of information. Strike actions that can not be hidden can be combined with deception and deception has been used in warfare since centuries, for example you know where a submarine is due to a cracked code but you let a patrol plane fly over the area anyway so the submarine transmits that it has been spotted by a plane. The more you know the better it is, cryptology became in WW2 a major discipline in gaining and hiding knowledge.

Still, this game is not a war. I do not carry anything valueable that needs to be escorted, there is no political immersion, there is no real death penalty, there are no real parties fighting over something, I do not get it why you are comparing it.

Try a different game maybe. Something like EVE would suit you, it has the framework.

ofc those things existed. since most ancient times, merchant shipping was protected from piracy by escorting and convoying. they were just 'reinvented' as the need arose again. so did escorting and convoying became more popular in daoc too, and made the stealhers life more miserable. natural reactions to the danger... stealhers form a danger and a tread, people started behaving diferently and started to protect themselves from stealhers. maybe you don't like it. but that's how things have evolved.

because i obviously think it is a good comparison. what is the problem that people have with comparing computer game situations with RL /historical situations ?

and don't understand how you can say there is nothing valuable to escort/protect ? you never escorted a relic ? have you never defended a tower/keep /... ?

you say there is no political immersion ? you've never lead a major raid and had to keep different factions happy and stuff ? i guess a solo stealher, there are damn few politics involved. when you run a guild / alliance / raid, politics show up, whether you like it or not.

for me those politics are a valuable part of the game !

there is no real death ? if you consider how some people react to stuff that happens to them, people take it serious enough. ofc there is no real death.

there are no real parties fighting over something ? damn, what is all this realm vs realm about then ?

why should i switch game when i think this is the best game yet ?

Both are correct to a degree but they problem is real world war tactics have no place in daoc.

In daoc a fight will last between 10 seconds and 3 minutes at most, a siege will usually last a couple of hours at best, a battle in a real war can last weeks.

Long term strategy planning, deception and most war tactics simply cannot work in a fast paced computer game where the fight will be over before your even half way through relaying new information for some fancy plan.

In daoc keeping things plain, simple fast and reliable is usually a far more likely way to win, specially when your trying to lead a bored, dumb or simply over anxious zerg BG.

Remember, your dealing with people playing for fun, not trained soldiers who are paid to do what they are told after all.
