Was just wondering if the trend was gonna swing back to melee weapons across the board and away from leggies...

Things like GS main, CW offhand for pierce

Malice main, CW offland for blade seems sensible.

You get to debuff your own damage type and an increase to melee resists.

-------------------

I got thinking. ATM I spec and tool for fighting assasins and nothing else really. but.. imagine.

Pd5 ranger.

26%+28%pd5+5%CW+3GSV+10CL dump = 72% melee resist

factor in class and armour bonus (i think its

slash resist 82%
thrust resist 72%
crush resist 67%

U throw in like WH running or battler charge and basically like peeps with slash or other physical weaps gonna be hitting you for damage that wouldnt even dent a gimp like shrewsbury.
-------------------

I think this would fook me over versus leggy users and general play but with resists like that you are in for some fun fights versus mincers, battler malice mercs and zerks, skalds, heavy tanks... basically anything with physical resists gotta be in trouble even V a ranger.

------------------

but before power hungry censi goes mad....

I suddenly remember that this is accross the board so like people generally are going to have better melee resists across all melee classes. So does this mean ultimately the best thing to do is stick with the flaming bettsy's????

this increase in melee resistence and availablity of a resist buff dump is gonna definetly make stealthers (especially archers with PD) potentially very very strong in certain circumstances.

who knows just thinking out load. are other stealthers tempted to trade in their elemental weaps for a CW combo?

I thought PD worked like AOM and was calculated seperatly from normal resistances. i.e deducted after normal resistances have already been done, rather then stacking straight.

Personally im not impressed by the champion weapons, aside from the 'ooh shiney' factor. But at least they are free.

I think the weaps are pretty average / crappy for midgard slash users / shadowblades. I think they are mainly made for the people on the classic servers. Of course I'll have to get one for the "Ooo" factor, but I think it'll just be another weap to cycle in with poison on it :>

they look nice, but I think I'm gonna stick with my current template where I can swap weapons if needed, the CW weapons don't look that good for mincers :)

I wont use it as minstrels got the worst of all daoc classes, but then again im not unhappy with what i have so.

And yes they dont stack and count as 2nd tier resists

CL spell is 5%
does not stack with the weapon 5%
and does not stack with GSV's 3%

so it's only 2% more resist than what you have already with GSV.

I was just gonna stick with my malice/ml10 slasher or leggies (if I go back to pierce)
Was just gonna get the bow, snare proc looks nice, and I get to wave it at scouts and /yell
".1 of a sec slower"
and with champ level abilities I can get a 5DPS DA and drop PF back to 9 from my current 36 and bump bow back to 35
Besides the ranger blades look fugly, and I'd rather look good and be gimp than look fugly and be uber.

I think the nice thing about the CW's is the /use whilst in combat
Played for the first time in a few weeks last nite, and had a mincer /use battler on me whilst in combat, I felt like I was hitting him with an egg yolk :)
But being unsc'ed dosnt help I guess

I think SB's shoulda got something more outta DR than they got tbh, dunno what tbh
but just something to help the poor bastiches out :fluffle:

Just wait till I get sc'ed and can cap my stats and skills, then I'll be back ;)
I'm running around with rog gloves, boots and the wrong belt and bracer atm
I saw the battler, but what does warguard do?
I just saw my damage drop so badly I thought wtf?
Forgive my ignorance but I havent bothered with ml's at all.

I havent killed a mincer since I switched to blades, I may just leave them well alone now ;)

The warguard is ml10 ability and is a 25% abs buff. It stacks with battler and is usable every 10 mins. To give you an example I fought a low rr vamp with ablat running, he hit me one time for 156. I then used warguard and battler and in 4 rounds he hit me for a total of 24.

Ill use the dr bows on ranger and offhand blades for NS to bumb his str caps and take away other + str cap items and increase my hits even more or work in some other arti :p.

Will deffo use GS and LWs in mainhand even after DR :D

/edit, also censi the +resistance from DR weapons do NOT stack with GSV and other items with cap rasing resists.

If not for the melee resist buff/debuff, then for the ToA bonuses... it's a very nice weapon for offhand imo.

I still find it funny how long time it acually took ppl to understand that it was overpowered, everyone was yada yada " Zephyr = I win " even after it was on a 15 min timer :p
I had zephyr when it was on a 2 min timer, and still found Warlord better duo to the high absorbe ;)
it was fun in OF xD
Warlord ML 10
Battler
Avoid Pain(didn't stack with Warlord but then I had high abs for more fights)

That's nasty stuff :)
25% abs and som and abl chant

I didnt realise mincers got abilities like that, after I looked at the abilities on visionofsages, it looked more like a tank line
Mincers are such a nice class, must be fun to play one, I'm sure assassins can give you a good run for your money with perf/cd and dots, but I've never beat a RR5+ mincer without using my old ML10 buff shear cloak
All that utility and being welcome in stealth and visable groups with the option to solo effectively too. An a RR5 ability designed just to annoy pet casters, hehe, thats cool.
You musta felt godlike with all the relics recently, 20% melee and spell dmg,
hehe, you were probably praying for suicidal rangers like me to attack you :)

Maybe when I finish equipping my dementia vamp I'll give you a run for your money, i'll try a maintained mezz when you pop those abilities ;)

That's true, 50% melee ressistance is hard cap. Only racial ressist is counted over it.

Some of the CW are ok, i haven't seen stats on many of the stealther weapons though. making a champ template using champ weapon was quite easy.
4 LW, 5 str cap, 3% speed/melee/style, 7 str, 7 quick, 5% tick hot (6 ticks) + sumet else.
obviously the 2 classes are very different, but it happens :p

a lot of the CW's look naff though, bard harp for one, vamp weapons look crappy, so do a lot of the staves. i think CW's were made for more casual players. People that can't get/afford/farm arti's.

Some CWs really boost dmg and add lots of abilities.
I.e.zerker's 4.3speed CW,
i.e. CW resist recrease proc,
i.e.dex cap/cast speed/range/heal/pp weapon for healer/shaman.
i.e.4.2 "easy piercing MH weapon" for BM

my new template includes the CW, simply cause of the debuff and the perma buff I don't have with GoV.
