Anyone else looking forward to this as much as me?

Just bought the 2-pack off steam (20% discount). Lil' celebration for me getting another contract so gifted a mate for his birthday later this week. :)

I do about 2 games a year at the moment. Most of them give me the feeling of been-there done-that (especially fps's - they're all so fucking samey and really dumbed down because of the consoles).

Hopefully with Valve previously concentrating on PC they haven't yet succumbed to the "must make it easy otherwise butterthumbs console-types won't be able to do it" bug. I want a challenge to my mouse and keyboard skills as well as my brain. Which gives me another cause for concern - are they going to make the puzzles so easy a child can do it without much trouble?

Anyway. Right now this is the game I'm most eagerly awaiting. If Carlsberg did preloads, Carlsberg'd preload this :D

Edit: Someone remove that comma from teh thread title plz! :)

I am also looking forward to this immensely. There's lots of added bits (laser beams, special gels that you can fire onto surfaces to change their properties etc), the original was fantastic. When's 2 out?

I only looked forward to one game last year and that was a pretty serious let-down so I have learned to control my expectations somewhat.

Edit - Oooh only a couple of weeks :) Thanks for the heads up!

No, I'm not looking forward to Portal 2 as much as you Scouse.
I'm looking forward to it even more than you! :)

Multiplayer co-op sounds like it's going to be the main mode for me.

Bought the two pack ready for day one, so my mate and I can do the co-op as soon as. I cannot wait till it comes out. Played through Portal 1 again the other day, noticed they changed the ending to fit in with the start of Portal 2.

The downside to the two-pack is that I have 2 extra copies of Portal I don't know what to do with.

Did anyone get all the way through Portal: Prelude? Slightly ashamed to say I got stuck quite early on and never went back to it. It was good for what it was but it obviously lacked the polish and "wow" of the official game.

I loved Portal, absolutely ingenious game, the only dissapointment was finishing it so quickly :)

Very much so - the first one was ace!

It's been what, 5 years? 5 1/2?

Time flies!

Same, and I bet I'm stuck on the same spot you are :). The problem is, it's a bit that isn't so much working out the puzzle as having the skill/luck to hit the right spot. I just can't get enough exit velocity to make it to the ledge and gave up after the umteenth try.

Saw a TV advert last night, made me very excited my mrs didn't have a clue why I was acting strangely when it came on. She said 'why are you excited about two robots jumping through portals?' I just replied because its soo fun and this time I can play with mates. She gave me that funny look of not really understanding what I was saying lol

Aye. I should have left for work about 40 minutes ago but I've got to remove my L4D2 install and then hit preload so I can play the gorgeous lovelyness when I get home.

I'm *always* late for work :(

I'll savour the wait for the PS3 version to come out on Thursday and install the PC one on Steam then. :)

Steam is always overloaded. The unpacking will appear to hang at 32% but will then jump to the finish.

Can everyone be super nice and use spoiler tags if you're going to discuss things to do with the storyline because I can't pick this up yet :(

PS: According to the interwebs, do single player before co-op as co-op can ruin the single player storyline with spoilers.

My finger keeps hovering over the buy button, but I need a carpet for my bedroom. Plus I heard there's only about 4-5 hours of gameplay.

I'm in the same boat being stuck at work. Can't play tonight as the mrs thought it would be nice to visit my parents. So it has wait so I am avoiding all trailers/reviews/mates to make sure my first play to crisp and fresh.

No way I'm paying 50€ for it but I do want it so badly. Steam exchange rates are always horrific. :(

Can't you just use a proxy or get someone in the UK to log in and buy it for you? Or you could even get someone to gift it to you and give them the money.

Managed to play for a hour last night. Loving every second of it, though the amount of loading screens is a bit of a pain. If I was on my old machine it may have effected my enjoyment.
