I'm going to cycle in tomorrow, that's be a fuckin laugh - if I arrive in one piece, anyway.

Sorry but you are a twat, saw a guy this morning on a bike at 6:45 TRYING to cycle on a road with cars sliding all over the place, plus he was about as steady as a giant westwood in a galeforce.

The twat should NOT have been cycling in these conditions.

Its big roads, all gritted up, between me and office. I walked half of it today and it wouldnt have posed a problem. I'll probably head in early and avoid the heavy car traffic as well to be safe. I get your point deebs, but Im not a total nutter. If it gets a bit like carnage I'll just walk it in.

Good to hear it Chilly, motorists have a little more protection like a frame and airbags, cyclists have a plastic helmet.

Plus the guy this morning had shit light and no vis jacket and in the blizzard conditions I never saw him until he was about 4 metres away, luckily he was on the other side as my car was sliding toward the kerb and then back again as it was trying to find the right path (not many cars had been on the road so no tracks to follow).

Just been speaking to neighbour and read on the BBC website that a serious amount of snow is expected to hit again tonight along with sub zero temperatures. Think tomorrow is all about staying away from the car, maybe I might go for a walk in my lunchtime and take some pics.

The only real issue with cycling is the people in the cars being on the road too :p

Oh behave. Motorists pay a tax to use the roads therefore they are > cyclists who pay fuckall.

Anyway, in this weather, what fucker wants to balance on ice/snow whilst moving forward? :p

Hehe, we generally don't get snow anymore, not like this anyway. Where is that pic taken?

northern sweden 2 years ago. was there on vacation and that happened 2 days before i had to get back. couldn't get back home for over a week.

was almost 2 meters at the worst places.

we have had worse tho. 10 years ago an entire city got snowed in. was totally cut off for almost 2 weeks. took the better part of a month for it to get back to almost normal :)

Motorists pay tax because they are mugs and it entitles them to nothing more than what a cyclist gets for free, in fact even less in most cases :p

Screw balance I say just crash into snow piles, it shouldn't hurt too much.

It's a good 5 inches where I am, my car is grounded in it, no way I'll get it out until it thaws. There's no letting up in it either.

Nice, I should get my Canon out and go for a walk but tonight I really can't be arsed which is a shame as I know I can get some good photos.

Oh well.

Love all the photos. Somehow I knew all you boys would be outside playiing in it. Didn't get too much on this part of the south coast but I did refuse to do the 2 hour drive to Ashford at 5.30 this morning. Just as well cos if I'd made it I wouldn't have made it back.

When I did make it out the door and into the car, I've got those awful parking sensors which were going off all the time, obviously covered in snow but I didn't know where they were. Ended up at VW anyway as my back number plate fell off!!!Had both plates screwed on now as only glued before, how ridiculous.

Most of scandinavia is looking at britain funny :p

"Snow? And?" :D

Countries like Scandinavia are used to weather like this and have things in place for it.

You think African countries would be able to cope and be equiped for rains we have?

After a while, in a "modern" country, one would think one would learn ;)

Both of the above were at midnight Sunday/Monday, taken with ISO 1400 (hence the grain).

We tend to get minor heat waves in this country as well which most places of work aren't equipped for so we can't be prepared for everything. Besides in most cases it's the overworked British working class using snow for a well deserved skive rather than people not being able to cope with it. I was disappointed that the roads weren't nearly as bad as people were making them out to be, I like putting my offroad training to good use :)

It's greener than the freddyshouse screen here atm :(
