who cares if we are worse off tax wise? Why should everything be about money? The real benefit will be a generally healthier population which will benefit all of society in more than just economic terms.

So we lose a few bn in tax, itl sort itself out in a couple of years anyway.

How and at what cost? The biggest suppliers to the economy in this country at the moment come from one of the few manufacturing industries we have left: The arms industry (about 17bn per year). Personally I think we should cut down on the bullets and we should all take up smoking. We might not live as long, but a lot of other people who we have never met and have no particular problem with would certainly gain a lot of years. Is smoking really such a bad thing?
