Some US president did give Saddam weapons, allthough they never loved him and it was a diplomatic act for a greater good (allthough I dont exactly know what it was and Im to lazy to dig into it).

Anyway the way we view the world now and 15 years ago are completly different. Now we care more about how people in other countries live, back then we just wanted to prevent ourself from becoming a comunistic country. So back then we acted more out of self interest than we do now (and hopefully we will keep caring for how people in other countries live).

USA gave weapons to Iraq and so did France/UK prolly aswell or atleast France sold them to them when the UN said they werent allowed to. I meant that USA (plz not america as that includes alot of other countries) wasnt thinking anything wrong, but conchabar has a point that you can possibly see that giving weapons to Saddam is the same as saying you love him (if you think as a kid or ignore how politics works).

Depends on how far you go back. The us fully supported hussains coup to gain power in iraq back when iran where there big enemy in the gulf and publically and privately funded and armed the iraqi regime and turned a blind eye for years as to the terrors hussain was unleashing on his people. If saddam hadn't invaded kuwait then the us would probably still be backing him.

Most of them are nice enough(not that i've meet all of them so i can't really make a comment like that so i take it back)

They have a goverment in charge that seems to be a war monger, 2 wars already, must be a record for an American Presidant.

(Oh didn't the Americans supply Iraq with arms and trade nuclear technology for Oil a few years before the Gulf war to help them with there war with Iran?)
