Yes the Silmarillion was turd. Next year I can look foward to starting to forget the movies so that I can read the books again without seeing Jackson's actors and sets instead of my own minds creations. But I'm not sure that'd be possible without a brain transplant. Wonder if memories could ever be classified as intellectual property, then I could sue jackson for vandalism or something.

Just seen the film, was very impressed. He's done an excellent job of translating the books to the cinema screen and it managed to keep my attention throughout the entire film.
The only real niggle I had was the ending did drag on a bit, altho hopefully the extended version should have saruman and the shire in it so that should liven it up a bit.

Ian McKellen said the extended dvd would be about 5 hours long on Johnathan Ross's show. So there's something to look foward to next christmas :)
