I heard on the radio this morning how 3 girls where killed when their car crashed into the Central Reservation on the M52 Motorway on their way to a Justin Timberlake Concert

They all apparently got out and and got hit?

WTF? Why the fuck did they get out in the first place...

I tried looking for it on some news sites but to no avail shame really :/

They recommend you get out of your car if you break down on a motorway. Then keep as far away from the road as possible, I think they must have just been standing in the fast lane or something ;)

Another reason why NOT having Motorway driving as a standard part of the UK driving test is such a fucking shit idea - I mean really - who DOES think up these things? - it HAS to be deliberate.

Another good reason why people should have motorway experience before they are allowed to drive unaccompanied.

I think 'rofl' is a bit strong though SG :/

It would be hard to test people on motorway driving in 30 mins though tbh, and probably wouldn't have helped these people anyway. It needed Three of them to check for damage on the fast lane of a motorway in the wet? :/

Nearest Motorway to me is 80 miles away, that would be a loooong driving test, I am a Geographical Odditie.

But there should definatly be some Motorway procedure related questions in the theory test, (if there aren't already), and at the very least some fast dual carriageway driving, to check lane changing and slip roads etc.

Wimp!

Imagine being in the Mercedes driver's shoes right now. Fact is he probably didn't do anything wrong, and yet now has the deaths of three people on his hands.

well the nearest motorway to me is about 1 and a half hours away in perth, and it sonly a small strech that is motorway and its back to a-road all teh way to edinburgh, and its not like i come from some backwater, i'm from aberdeen, so compulsory motorway driving in a test really isnt feasable, just think of folk up in caithness and stuff, theres no way it could be part of their test. I'm pretty sure you are meant to have some a-road driving, but in my test we never went near one which i was fairly surprised about. Anyway, about 2 weeks after my test i drove all they way down to edinburgh on my own, first time on a-road on my own, round the edinburgh ring road(motorway) and across the m8 to glasgow all on my own, was the best thing i could have done i reckon and i'm really glad my parents let me cos i am really confident im my driving now and dont really get phased by stuff i see my mates who have also passed getting panicy about. hmm bit long, but the jist is compulsory motorway driving isnt really feasable :)

maybe it's (sorry) a girl thing then? the last time I've been in a car with problems we had a young lady with us, and we almost had to bodily drag her off the damn road because she -for some mind boggling reason- kept trying to get into the car from the side facing the road. I wonder if she'd even noticed the lorry bearing down on her as she opened the roadside door :/

sorry, but I'm utterly stumped for an explanation and am grasping at straws :/
