Just force the UK to adopt the Euro. No backing out of that.
The flag wankers would never allow it.Just force the UK to adopt the Euro. No backing out of that.
Which is why a referendum wouldn't happen. If we went back in it would have to be with a clear understanding of what it meant and with a clear (e.g. 2/3) majority. And that's not going to happen. The flag wankers would never allow it.
Except the Scottish, they certainly won't pretend.Which is why a referendum wouldn't happen. If we went back in it would have to be with a clear understanding of what it meant and with a clear (e.g. 2/3) majority. And that's not going to happen.
In true British fudge fashion the UK will end up completely aligned with the EU but not in it. So everyone can pretend the got what they wanted.
Says who? I strongly doubt the UK would be forced to do anything that drastic to rejoin since the Europeans want us back more than most brits do, especially with the Russian threat right now. When asked what benefits Brexit has brought us I can't name a single one.Would have to join the Euro.

It's possible to join the EU, legally "commit" to adopting the Euro but indefinitely postpone it by not joining the Exchange Rate Mechanism (Sweden, Poland, Czechia) and/or by deliberately failing to meet the criteria.Says the EU. Any new accession state has to join. It's in the Copenhagen criteria.
This is all irrelevant anyway. The UK won't have a sufficient majority to rejoin for a least another generation and by the time that happens the UK will have figured out a practical accommodation with the EU without joining. A two-speed EU is inevitable and the UK will be in the outer ring. Like Canada!
