The flag wankers would never allow it.
Which is why a referendum wouldn't happen. If we went back in it would have to be with a clear understanding of what it meant and with a clear (e.g. 2/3) majority. And that's not going to happen.

In true British fudge fashion the UK will end up completely aligned with the EU but not in it. So everyone can pretend the got what they wanted.

Same as we all pretend it's a real democracy. So I guess that's all good.

When the GE run up starts, the country should be reminded that Farage had a hand in Brexit and how shite its turned out to be, also that he distanced himself from it after it happened rather than tried to fix it. If done right, it could do a lot of damage to Reform on the run up to GE.

Except the Scottish, they certainly won't pretend.

Voted remain. Wouldn't vote to go back.

Doesn't make a material difference to my life. Would have to join the Euro, and that'll be a dividing line for many (although frankly I don't really give a shit). Meh.

I don’t think it makes sense for the UK to go back, better to figure out what the UK actually wants to be than re-enter the EU which is a complete mess, see chat control, the ease a single nation can extort their demands (France with Ukraine deal) etc the UK joining would only increase the chaos

Says who? I strongly doubt the UK would be forced to do anything that drastic to rejoin since the Europeans want us back more than most brits do, especially with the Russian threat right now. When asked what benefits Brexit has brought us I can't name a single one.

Says the EU. Any new accession state has to join. It's in the Copenhagen criteria.

This is all irrelevant anyway. The UK won't have a sufficient majority to rejoin for a least another generation and by the time that happens the UK will have figured out a practical accommodation with the EU without joining. A two-speed EU is inevitable and the UK will be in the outer ring. Like Canada!
