I declined to renew my lease after living here for 6 years because the noise from the next door hotel roof top bar Rare was too much. Nightclub volume music until 2-3AM Tuesday to Sunday night. Forget it, I need to function next morning at work. Declined to renew my lease back in April because the noise was too much. Turns out, noise was too much for their own hotel guests. And they basically turned it off a week ago. Rooftop is closing at 11 PM every day. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

Moving to a smaller apartment next week, longer commute, only slightly cheaper, no laundry in building, all because of a rooftop party that no longer happens.

If it's like here, they take any opportunity to add to the rent from any so called 'improvement'. Like, changing vertical striped wallpaper to horizontal, they'd find a fucking argument (any ludicrous, pulled out of the ass argument) to show It's stress reducing and warrants 50 bucks extra.

I would expect that they'd be able to charge an extra $400-500 a month once renovations are done. Finding someone to move in wont be a problem, most apartments in NYC are on the market for less than a week.
