Muslim women wear heafscarves, it's a cultural thing...I'm guessing a leftover from desert tribes anti sand in your face clothing.
Of course it's only a recent revival, in the 70s, fancy hair do's, miniskirts and pornography were all the rage in the middle east...still are actually behind closed doors.
It only becomes a polarising issue when they use it to reinforce a racial difference or superiority.

*some Muslims women wear headscarves, some are forced to do so, some choose to do so

Many choose not to

I would argue its less of a religious thing and more to do with where they are from tbh

I'd say it becomes a polarising issue when people take offence to other people's clothes because they're insecure fuckwits. That aside, wearing or not wearing a hijab doesn't have anything to do with race.

Its a cultural thing that just happens to fit into some religious types warped view of the world. enforced wearing of it should be banned and at other times it should be banned full stop. Around schools etc...in the same way wearing a motorcycle helmet is not permitted.

If people want to dress like a starwars character then they should be free to do so, in the same way they should be open for satire, in the same way those cunts in skinny jeans are and people who waddle round with their trousers round their ankles.

Yes, but in situations where the person absolutely has to be identified (such as the chaos of school collection time) then they should remove them so that the already under pressure teachers can identify that the child is being taken by their parent or other recognised adult.

Its about practicality. No different from (helmets, bad example) balaclavas or bandannas over the face etc.

What if someone rocked up to a school and collected your kid but all the teacher could say is "sorry pal, they were wearing a balaclava"

Good point. I agree.

Headscarves I have no problem with (I actually think pretty Asian girls wearing them look attractive).

Covering up faces I have a problem with.

Anyhoo...shave gel, why does my shave gel can always break? I buy L'Oreal* stuff (because I'm like, metrosexual or something and Gilette stuff always brings me out in a rash), but the fucking can spray bit always fucks up and I spend every morning trying to squeeze a dribble of blue gel out of the can as my life ticks by.

(*cue Raven pointing out that I'm a poof for not shaving with a rusty hacksaw blade and industrial solvent).

Also, if we're talking about religious symbolism being worn, Catholics and their crucifixes with a man being tortured to death being worn round their neck? Far more 'offensive' or disgusting.

Religious fucktardium.

Same argument could be made about men with face covering beards and sunglasses lets ban all those near schools too, and hats, scarves, large coats and cars that don't allow 100% visibility of all passengers

You mean like those signs that ask for motorcycle helmets to be removed?

As i said a motorcycle helmet is not really an item of clothing, and in reality not something people wear casually while picking up their kids or sitting in a cafe

I've been in two predominantly Muslim schools now and I haven't seen one full burqa, im not sure why though, plenty of standard headscarves though.

I -think- it's because burqa are a post marriage thing for many cultures - don't be a sex symbol, youre taken whereas headscarves are more of the cover your head thing, which many men do too.

That bake off woman said she only started wearing a head scarf to hide her awful/dirty hair.

Actually it is in Saudi and some other Muslim countries where Niqab & Burqa are mandatory in public places

Spend 10 minutes in Birmingham City Centre you'll see hundreds of the bloody things.

Don;t have a problem with headscarves, the full burka/niqab etc can fuck off tho as far as I'm concerned - forcing people to cover up in public is fairly disrespectful, and not something I could ever agree with.
