Treaded tyres on a road bike don't do anything, slicks are fine.

I'm in Portugal where it's supposed to be hot and sweaty. But it's fucking freezing and pissing with rain.

You cannot aquaplane but you can lose traction/grip.

And a slick tyre would me more prone to that than a non slick? I mean not the studded tyres for off road and stuff but ones that try to shed the water.

Slicks = Larger area of the tire in contact with the ground. Threaded = less contact thus more prone to slipping.

hmm. No.

The tread breaks up the surface area, thus reducing slippage. Nothing to do with aquaplaning though which is an entirely different thing.

Sipes do nothing on bike tyres. They are there to look pretty, nothing more. And aquaplaning is not the same thing as slipping.

Bicycle Tires and Tubes

See the section on hydroplaning.

It's Sheldon Brown's site, may he RIP. That's MISTER Brown to the likes of you Corn :)

my winter tyres are slightly wider, feature a cosmetic tread and, more importantly, an additional puncture guard. when it's mucky out I may ride through stuff on the roads I can't see and thus can't avoid. my summer tyres are narrower, no tread, lightweight puncture guard.

Do they do ones that stop you falling off? It kinda seems like those would be the ones best suited for you ;)

She rolled her eyes at the short and balding old man as he realised his failure in reaching the top shelf. His valiancy had turned on him and it felt like a dagger through his heart when the young beautiful girl turned and walked away from him, uttering two words which he had battled his entire life... "Fucking manlet!"

Having my first ever alergic reaction to Neurofen (Ibuprofen) resulting in a lovely red rash on my back and sides. The affected skin is extreme sensitivity to touch and now turning into lots of angry looking pus filled patches. Can't even put on a t-shirt without lots of pain.

Fun times.
Same day a report in the DM about child with chicken pox reacting badly to ibuprofen. asked around and it shouldn't be used for any rash. I did not know that.

I have the sore throat from hell and a cough to go with it. Never felt this bad, think I've probably cracked some ribs. No medicine seems to help.
