My mum blacking out and collapsing in her kitchen last Saturday, not telling me, and not getting me freaking out when she casually mentioned it during a phone conversation just now.

I blacked out in a kitchen years ago. I was really *really* high and stood up too quickly though. It's probably not the same thing with your mum, I hope she's ok. :(

Being a soft arse.

Stood in the pub garden smoking a cig chatting with friends.

A cat suddenly appears, runs straight at me and starts rubbing round my legs, give it a bit of fuss and soon realise its a stray (skin and bone, matted fur) and heavily pregnant. It has now taken up residence in my kitchen after being fed a ton of food and a bowl of milk.

Fuck only knows what I am going to do with it now but I can't turf it out. Already have 2 cats, one of which is a semi feral miserable bastard.

I blacked out while doing a paper round. Have no recollection of thirty mins of my life. Put it down the experience.

Germans don't take their identity from the British though, it seems the Irish seem to have their identity ingrained into the fact that they're 'former Brits'

I guess that's because when you take away religion, that's pretty much what they are, hence why they try and grasp onto their dying language and 'culture' in resistance to modern culture; I'm sure if you ask the vast majority of people below the age of 40 if they care about 'traditional Irish stuff' they'll be like lol no, but education will still cause them to be anti-'Engritish'

I dont think many irish people are anti English, the centenary of the easter rising has led to lots of romanticism about bygone era, but the anger (from the Irish i know at least) isnt aimed at their colonial overlords but at the continued corruption and mess their political class keeps getting them into

Of course their history is slanted in a pro irish way, that's how history is taught everywhere at basic school level (with a nationalist slant) - with the exception perhaps of Germany, there they are taught it was all their fault (perhaps equally as damaging)

Actually a bit of a renaissance of "traditional Irish stuff" going on with younger age groups; people actually bothering to learn the language properly etc. The "Bertie generation" (35-50) don't give a crap about that stuff, but all the middle class ones encourage it in their kids.

It's made a shitload of folk who are not only pleasant to hang about with, but also who fight for the needy more than us selfish rich brits...

To be fair though, the Germans don't have the same amount of piss takers we have ruining it for the genuinely needy.

Perhaps if benefit fraud had been better policed we wouldn't be in this mess, but it wasn't so we are.

I think my hard drive has died or the OS is corrupted. I was using the PC when it rebooted on it's own. Now it won't fully boot up and the windows repair tool kicks in. Also all the recovery options don't work. I'll hopefully try to reinstall windows 10 tomorrow when I get my hands on a USB boot stick.

Perfect thing to happen when you are hungover and wanted to watch a few films online. :(

Accounts for like two percent.

The piss taker's thing is a fucking myth.
That too many qualify and find it easy isnt tho. I think more incentives for companies to employ disabled people so no so many need to claim.

Evidence?

Anecdotally, I've spoken to (a couple of) doctors who say huge swathes of people who in their professional opinion are fully deserving are being indefensibly written off.

The thing about the whole benefit fraud thing is that it distracts us all from the real issue, which is corporate tax fraud. Channels are happy to make Benefits Street but would they ever try making a similar series in the Cayman Islands?

We're in this mess because of benefit fraud, okay.

Yeah, cos like corporate tax affairs are never in the news these days.

well thats more tax avoidance, which is perfectly legal (and probably inevitable without some sort of global agreement), but actual illegal tax fraud is costing the UK ~100 times more than benefit fraud

T5 is nice but makes the criminal mistake of not having a smoking area, which sucks if you have an upcoming 11 hour flight and want to load up on nicotine.

I'm flying again on Monday, and as a demonstration of how bad Easyjet were, I've seen I'm flying Air Chance and I'm thinking - at last, a proper airline.

LOL Air Chance is far from a proper airline :) At least they have improved their IFE and Seats recently.

LAX Tom Bradley is pretty nice these days, renovations are nearly complete and its pretty decent. Just nightmarish queues at security if your there at the wrong time.

Dubai is one of the best airports to fly through, shopping and choices for food etc are great, also a pub in each terminal. Right up there with Singapore as one of my favs. A lot of my love vs hate experiences are based on the efficiency and wait times and varied choices and prices once captive in the terminals.

Britain's Trillion Pound Island - Inside Cayman - BBC Two

A series would be largely pointless because generally people who hide their money in offshore tax havens do not have aspirations of starting a new life as a Z list celeb.

Even the USB boot stick won't work so it looks like I'm buying a new SSD as I tried a clean install but it crashed around a third of the way though so I lost all the other repair options. Gutted I didn't back up my files too.

I just hope I can salvage the windows 10 product key somehow.

Windows 10 product key is stored online, reinstallation of the OS shouldn't be a problem.
Sorry to hear about the crash though.
