Facebook by its definition is an attention seeking outlet. The sooner you accept it, the quicker you'll deactivate your account and demonstrate to everyone how superior you are.

Back on topic. I'm currently at Take That at the NEC. I fucking hate that good looking talented cunt.

Well, I'm sorry for your loss and of course people can and should grieve but why do so many feel the need to do it publicly? Mine died when I was 10 so I guess I'm just less sensitive about that stuff than I would be had it happened more recently.

Calling you a fucking cock was probably a bit extreme so apologies for that, I think this is an example of a few retards spoiling it for the rest of us. But then it wasn't grief in my case (I did that after he died with yhe help of a few friends and a lot of beer), more remembrance which I do like to see. I have a couple on my feed who remind you they've lost their dad every week or so - they get irritating, and as for keeping people's FB going after death - that shits just fucked up.

My Dad wasn't one for Father's Day when he was alive, so I didn't really think about him more yesterday than any other day. Plus, once you've got kids of your own you tend to be wrapped up in them doing "Father's Day stuff" that largely involves glitter and glue at their age

Well if you're gonna spell 'defense' you have to use an 's'. If you use a 'c' then you'll end up spelling 'defence'.

in a funny aside, I initially typed defence and then "corrected" the word to defense because the red underline annoyed me :(

Cats.

Mine has been missing since Saturday, put posters up today, wife posted something in one of those lost cat facebook things. A year ago this month he was at deaths door and didn't look like he would make it, 10k later (insurance!) and he disappears.

Bastard just rolled in, covered in seeds, full belly and fleas as if he has been gone an hour. The rabbit population around the village has no doubt been decimated.

2 hours in dentist's chair, bloody horizontal, that way nowadays to help their backs! What about the patient who's paying a fortune? I now have violent vertigo. Falling about all over the place. On top of that supposed to try and bleach my teeth to match a crown to. Can't sleep with the sodding mouth thingies in!

I have had three incidents when I would have preferred not to have been reminded that my dad had died. The anniversary of his death when my sister and brother expressed themselves, my birthday (because my mum God bless her sent me some obits in my bday cardthat I hadn't seen and yesterday when my sister posted again.

I don't have any issue with people posting on FB about dead loved ones, but I really don't want to see pictures of my dad popping up if that makes sense.

Of all the comments I've seen today on there about father's day it's half and half between people saying how wonderful their dads are and people competing to try to find the most "poignant" thing to say because their dad died and they want everybody to know they're still marking the day because they're just such incredible people.
I just don't believe that all these fathers were/are so wonderful. Mine certainly wasn't. Mothers neither. I had an old friend, a very nice lady, say to me the other day. 'I felt so guilty when my mother died. I was so happy!'

Get back home after being in the US for a week to find a nice trail of ants walking across the hallway. "No, you can't move in my tiny little friends" .. time to get some insect spray.

Try salt at the doorway, could be a non-lethal way to get rid of them. They usually take the hint after their first comrade dies like a slug.

Power cuts..and house alarms...that go off when the power is cut.

I can see its a security feature. But you know whats not a security feature? The alarm then going off for the next 6 hours because the powers off. So from midnight until 6am me street got no sleep due to one houses alarm going off constantly. The owner was out int he street apologizing at 4am, apparently as the power was off the control panel wasn't working so he couldn't turn it off.

Who designs a system like this!

Oh and both Mother and Father's Day are American "let's invent a holiday so we can sell more shit" inventions. I've never paid them a blind bit of attention.
Not really - Only the US version of Mothers Day is a made up event. For much of EU Mothers day or Mothering Sunday was a Christian (Cadillacs and Prodi's) event held 4th Sunday after lent where mothers of children were given gifts. It dates back at least 400 years.

Fathers day is totally an American made up event though :)

I don't really have a problem with either really. Its nice to spoil my mum for the day.

If we are going to celebrate some women claiming she didn't know how she got pregnant to her husband and the best she can come up with is "god did it" then I am sure we have room for our mothers (and fathers, if you like)

Also, just chucking a load of material gifts in her general direction is a poor excuse for a mothers day present anyway. I didn't spend a penny on my mum's gift (aside from a meal that I cooked for her) this year but she had a great day.

Facebook is facebook, unrelenting trivia, self gratification and showing off.

I thought Mothers day also had some tradition in the Victorian era; was a holiday where kids in factories had the day off to see their mothers

Servants were given the day off to go to church with their mothers or family.
