Have you ever considered the possibility that somewhere down the line you might have made a bad career choice? Maybe something less technical might be your thing? Involving crayons perhaps?

I know, right? :(

Really? It's one of the few M$ products that's any good. Written for developers by developers.

what he said. VS, .NET, MSSQL server. Although I don't really understand why VS has to be 8 gigglebytes and MSSQL like 300 million squillion gigglebytes, but they work well.

I guess I'm just not very familiar with it, and I've had to faff around with loads of different versions of it to get somebody's old project to compile

Come on. Tell us again.

In summary and without the details..
  • Have Crohn's disease (About 7 years now)
  • Had approx 4 surgeries, 2 of them have turned out not so well, been hospitalised twice for major blood loss (Basically waking up in hospital not knowing how I got there)
  • 1 Abscess removal (1) (easy recovery, ended up w/minor infection) and the first seton stitch (band) put in.. led to..
  • 2 abscess' drainages (Of which were pressing on each other from the "top" and "bottom" of the same section of intestine (2) which led to infection.. Which led to..
  • A hospitalisation where they had to remove about half of my lovely ass (right side) because the infection went from my intestine to a surface. Major surgery. (3) Which led to..
  • The outer wounds getting infected and spreading inside and causing more abscesses (so 1 external wound to 3 now) - Had multiple proddings with cameras involved, biopsies etc
  • Led to various different treatments, drugs, really high doses of painkillers which stopped working and other things.
I can't even write down what the risks are, as they scare me.

Happy to elaborate on any point.

Cheers - I just got the short straw! No family history of the disease either..

Will summarise again (Easier for mental state)

  • Surgery should fix it. IF it goes well. Especially with the after drugs they want to put me on.
  • 6 months (to a year..) of healing time with VERY frequent hospital visits (Makes working interesting, as I'm always between London and Manchester)
  • Never effected my work, had maybe 2 weeks off for major surgery, otherwise been on my feet and managing it. Good thing about painkillers. (My biggest worry is work / incapacitation)
  • IF it goes badly, and due to to where the infection/abscesses were on the intestine, it means I could lose that part of the intestine which will lead to needing a bag put in place and being sewn(?) up for good / for a really long time to let it heal up.
Now, none of that sounds fun to me.

Yowser, I have a friend who has that shit, not good...well actually her and her brothers have chronic ulcerative colitis but close. Not a lot that can be said really except...Chin up old boy, if you aren't 100% sure what your doc is telling you is legit then you are more than entitled to ask for a second opinion.

Cryptic crosswords

Anyone do these regularly?

Tried the one in the Independent. Made my brain cry.

I've got Crohn's disease, came active since I was 14 and I'm 28, soon 29 and I hope to never get as bad as this. I'm dreading having any sort of surgery. I think it's bad enough losing quite a bit of blood when going for a shit.

Toilets that are slow to refill after you have just done a double flusher that is burning your nose hairs.

Over the weekend, I saw a guy in a public urinal hold his hand under the water outlet and rub the cold water all over his cock.

That was fairly annoying.

Shit like this they spend most of the year showing us spongers who abuse the system and ask when will it be stopped then you get this saying all the cuts and changes need to be reversed. You can't have it both ways you wankers.
