I smoke for periods of a couple of months or so every few years. I don't really know why I keep starting again... although I think it's a combination of stress and addiction

Still, I eventually just get sick of them and stop it. I'm getting quite good at quitting now

i quit recently too, duno wot all the fuss is about sure i felt like shit for about 2 weeks and then felt like i wanted a cig for like another 2 months but I don't get these people who say they can't give up - fs its not as hard as ppl make out tbh.

It's a shame that most of that tax money is returned to the smokers once they need a cancerous lung removed on the NHS after their years of smoking.

Hmmm... I didn't start smoking to be cool. I started smoking pot to relax and out of curiosity. If you have ever smoked pot just about any way other than a bong, it's pretty harsh - especially if you don't smoke ciggies. My non-smoking friends and I started smoking cigs in between hits. Sounds stupid but stopped us from coughing. Well of course it's addictive and we ended up smoking cigs all the time.
We got bored with the pot after a few months, but we stuck with the cigs for a few years.

It's stupid, yes, but I think I had my brain removed from ages 15-18.

Another thing is that smoking feels nice. It's very relaxing. It makes you feel sorta tingly and good while you're doing it. Saying people only do it to be cool is pretty silly and just sounds like you never have. It affects everyone differently so maybe you tried it and don't understand.

On other thing that I've noticed. Often in both manual labor type jobs and office type jobs you can get MANY extra break times if you're a smoker since you have to go outside. Sometimes it's really really nice to get outside for 5 or 10 minutes several times a day.
That is how I started smoking the second time. Otherwise it was one 30 min break in 8 hours of working.

Now I don't smoke at all, except when I'm out drinking and ppl are around me, which isn't all that often as smoking isn't even allowed in bars/resturants here.

Dunno if I have already said this but...the reason I started smoking was simply because it was a good form of exercise!

Smoking for me was basically a bit of fun which we indulged in at school. Getting chased down by prefects and teachers was a great way to keep fit! I could probably run longer distances when I smoked than at any other time of my life. Ironic, huh?

When there was the element of the chase involved in smoking I gave it up pretty quickly; too boring.

Lad, if you dont stand up to bullies in the Army then you're their bitch for ever.
