Right, my mates dad has just bought himself a HDV video system, with a PC running windows, 2 Iiyama LCD screens (17" I think), Sony Vegas edit suite, and a bunch of Hi Def video equipment.

The monitors have VGA or DVI inputs, they're running off VGA right now.

Is it possible to get a plug or something so that I can plug the HD camera straight into a monitor, rather than it going through the computer via firewire? It would be nice to see the output of the camera in its true native high def resolution, rather than being subjected to codecs etc once its in the computer.

This is the camera

checked out lik-sang and the like? Lots of VGa boxes and stuff on there. Do the monitors have no s-video or composite inputs?

Hmmm, it should work fine as the VGA connector does carry RGB. Will have a think about that.

The component output isn't RGB on the camera, it's YPbPr/YCbCr so you'll need to re-map if you want to use it. There's an S-video (YC) output, that might offer a better solution.

(The mapping, if you interested...)
