Im probably a bit late with this, but PoM absolutley fuggin ROCK

I went to see Korn in Sheffield a couple of weeks ago, and PoM were supporting. They were simply superb. The crowd loved them, and tbh, they made Korn look decidedly average.

Im only saying this cos I was listening to the album on the way to work this morning, had it real loud, singing my head off. It was the kind of stuff that makes you want to detour on the way to work, just to make it last longer.

Very good. :D

jah, totally agree. Dunno if anybody noticed it, but the lead singer of POM sounds like the lead singer of Nirvana sometimes (and i now know why people love nirvana (rah))

My fav is the "she fucking hates me" and the other one where the girl drives off leaving the guy there with the guitair until she reutnrs, and he takes out the keys and throws them away :D

Atomic Kitten would make Korn look "decidedly average".

they aren't bad but don't exactly stand out (IMO). Heard it all before in early 90s.

I agree with Trems

Their music is poor pop rock and not very original or inventive.

I quite Puddle of Mud... 'Blurry' is nice.

Hmmm.

Listened to Pearl Jam's 'Last Kiss' yesterday for the first time in ages.

Now that's a class song.

They were at Leeds Festival. And were crap live.

As were Muse, Ash, and A.

Whereas groups with talent and/or originality were good live.

Coincidence?

Not impressed by Muddle of Mudd at all. Blurry irritated me a lot and though this is aparently "nu-grunge" there is nothing remotely new about it, just Nirvana tribute bands.

Ash are awful live. They are the worst band live in the universe. They made me psychotically angry with how shit they were.

Puddle of Mudd - yet another fucking AWFUL rock band with not even a little bit of talent, originality or skill.

I like Puddle Of Mudd when I first heard them. Now I think they're very mediocre having heard a few more of their songs.

It's true he does sound a hell of a lot like Kurt Cobain but that's no bad thng.

Is it my imagination or have I heard a new Nirvana song on the radio in recent days? Maybe it was just a new Puddle of Mudd song...not "She feckin hates me" though. I know what that sounds like.

Its likely it is a new (read: unreleased) Nirvana track, in the lead-up to their new compilation lark. I do so hate nirvana.

PoM play grunge, they do it well, they write their own songs, play their own instruments , they do what they want to do. They are not in any way talentless, just because they are popular, does not mean they have no ability.

Puddle of Mud are shite, man :(

I beg to differ about Muse being shite live, I've not seen them live personally but after watching the Hullabaloo DVD about ten times, I came to the conclusion that they rock.

The Smiths are still the best band ever, tbh.

I hate Slipknot, and all those other shit hard/heavy metal/grunge groups. :/ (Includes Linkin Park, Korn, Limp Bizkit etc.) Why is screaming down a microphone even remotely considered 'musical'?

Best band I've ever seen live was a group called "Hot House Flowers".

They're an Ozzy or Irish band I think. Can't remember. I'd only heard like one of their songs and it was a vague memory but I saw them on the line up for the Acoustic tent and Glasto 2k so thought I'd drag Damini along with me. They were just fucking great.

I think their music now kinda sucks...well it's just dull. But that acoustic set was just amazing.

For me it was a close tie between Alice Cooper and U2...for stage show

For pure talent Id have to agree that Hothouse Flowers back in the early 90's where brilliant live ( btw theyre from Galway in Ireland)

I dont like Korn or Slipknot, but "screaming down a mike" is not all they do, if you stop to think for a second, instead of spewing your stereotypical bullshit you might understand :

The people who listen to/play rock/metal etc use their music as a form of escape, getting bad stuff in their life out of thier system, if you actually listen to their stuff you will hear that their songs are a mixture of styles and emotions, the screaming, yelling etc is used to emphasise a particular point or emotion - usually anger, frustration or aggression, it works pretty well and for people who want an outlet for their own anger, frustration or aggression or for people who cant stand the lack of feeling or emotion relevant to them within most pop music it serves very well as music.

I used to lsiten to this kind of music so I udnerstand the reasons behind, Ive mellowed out a lot now but I dont look down on those that still listen to it.

Since when have Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit been about screaming down a mike anyway1?!!? They certainly are not hard/heavy metal.

As an aside the best band ive seen live were an American "underground" band called The Urge, they were actually a Ska band, but dont hold that against them, they are good. Very lively stage show, good live material and a very nice vibe about the whole thing.

Best band I've seen: System Of A Down at the Brixton Academy.

Got a Lostprophets gig there also on Saturday, that should be uber fun, even if Glassjaw are supporting (ugh).

Only band I've seen live is Therapy?, who ruled. Going to see the Manics in December though! :D

This is a tough one: RATM at Brixton was pretty damn impressive - I have never regained full mobility in my neck since a misguided (and home grown pot influenced) decision to start crowd surfing in an area of little crowd.

Hothouse Flowers was amazing too. It was back in the days when Kenny was still a filly chasing varmit, and watching that band with him made me go exceptionally soppy, and realise that I was falling and wanted to keep him. So, if in a few years time a bitter hen pecked husband tracks down the band and kills them in cold blood, you'll know why.

Pearl Jam were great live, but I hate being seated.

I would have loved to see Morphine live, but the bastard had to go die before the tour hit England, didn't he?

Oasis were actually damned good live as well. I never pegged myself as an Oasis fan, and was really surprised when I saw them how much I enjoyed the show.

I saw incubus live earlier this year....very good gig.

The older stuff was more my taste, but the gig owned nevertheless.

/edit

Just read Daminis post..

you saw PJ live? :(

I waited about 8 years for them to come back to scotland only to narrowly miss out on a ticket :(

Yep, seen Mr Vedder strutting his stuff. I've seen tons of bands, but I was far too naughty as a child and I forget loads unless reminded. It was only recently that I remembered I've been to four Readings, as opposed to my previous claims of going to three.

Seen Smashing Pumpkins too, and I was very disappointed. Technically brilliant, but no personality or interaction. I think he was having an off night. I'd like to see Incubus though, so you're one up on me. I don't think I've seen them play :)

I missed seeing Radiohead play due to drinking a bottle of red and then a bottle of white, and crawling around in my underwear covered in mud instead of heading to the main stage. A sad time indeed :(

I like Linkin Park.

Limp Bizkit is crap now - but the weird thing is their concert I went to 2 years ago in Manchester was the best live event I've ever been to.

Mad.
