Ok I see, I was thinking more about balance of the team.

Gerard - Lampard

I would even say that Obi Mikel has been been better than Essien in the premiership this season.

I know he's only had a few games, but I think he has been immense in those games.

Tough call, Mikel has done a sterling job in filling in this year but Essien is played out of position when he takes up the same role as Mikel.

Next year i would like to see a primary midfield 3 of Mikel, Essien and Lampard. Give him the box to box freedom and Essien is an absolute warrior.

No its not. You along with many others are just naming him because you think hes a good player. He wasnt even good for the first couple of games back in the premiership from injury. So he has done more in half a dozen games this season than Lampard, Gerrard, Fabregas, Alonso, Carrick, Anderson, Ballack etc etc has he? Have you even seen all the games Essien has played?

Anyway, your choice, I just think its a bit laughable thats all.

My god your as bad as lucius was. Why dont you accept that some us have a differing opinion.

Lampard - decent but dont like him so cant vote for him even if i thought i should

Carrick - been inconsistant at times and isnt amazing in any particular area but good in many.

Alonso - a little crying ponce that referees protect

Fabregas - poor season by his standards

Ballack - german so no need to say more :p

Anderson - Love the lad, however he been inconsistant for periods and most of his best performances have been in CL. Some outstanding performances against top 4 sides but against lower sides he doesnt have a star man to mark out of games and so he looks lost (this will be the case until he gets his confidence in shooting back that he lost after his leg break)

And no. not seen all of essiens games back, but he been very good in the ones i have seen. I rarely watch liverpool as i dislike them and so watched only key games they involved in so by your standards i shouldnt vote for any of them.

Remember, giggs won the player of they year award this season - now how many more games did he play then Essien? <case closed - if players can vote someone on limited games played i can>

Cant really be arsed arguing with you Corran. But what I will say is Ryan giggs has played in 3 times as many games as essien this year, playing 2182 minutes in 28 games for an average of 78 minutes per game. I dont have the full totals for Essien, but im pretty sure in 3 of the 10 games (on his comeback) he was subbed at like 60 minutes or so. So your last statement is as wide of the mark as you could get.

I'm going to retract my Essien vote, as much as I think he's the best midfielder (in the world) Marc is unfortunately right, 10 games is not a season :(

unvote essien - ireland

vote ireland - lampard

still not voting gerrard for this category, think he would be better as a second striker.

second striker it's gonna be hard to fit Rooney, Torres and Gerard in your two striker spots :p

Looking forward to the strikers poll. Rooney and Gerrard would have been my pick but I put Gerrard in the middle and so will go for Rooney/Torres instead.

What a team this would be if it ever actually happened.

It would be a great team! But it would lack some strength in depth, what with no subs :)

On the subject, I'll make a bench of the 7 most voted for players outside of those selected.

I doubt many foreign players would get in ahead of what we will end up with with english players. Probably Alves at right back who has been sensational this season and maybe, but a big maybe, Iniesta on the left wing. But apart from that, I dunno really. Havent seen much of the Italian league so cant comment

I'd have Zlatan up top if it was a World XI, and maybe Kaka in my midfield.

would it be called World's inconsistent XI?

Also, Maicon > Alves

And xavi as central mid.. probably the best mid atm, and messi for certain somewhere in the team.. you just can't go past him atm

Vidic made him look ordinary at best. He wouldn't make my world top 50 at the moment.

Kaka is sensational on his day, shame he is playing in a shite side at the moment.

Gerrard 14 votes and Lampard 10 votes make up the central midfield pairing.

Essien and Ireland were the next nearest with 5 votes each.
